I know people get sick of hearing about it...but just wanted to say that if anyone here lives in West Michigan, head out to the GVSU football game on Saturday!!! They're hosting the national semi-finals at 3:30 PM on Saturday against Carson-Newman. It's a chance to watch them earn their trip to the national championship game and watch the students take down a goalpost. If you *can't* make it...the game will also be on ESPN for you east-siders.

GV will be facing the veer option offense of Carson-Newman, who took down Terry Bowden's North Alabama squad yesterday.

Just cruising around the web. Started by seeing post here on the BCS for week 4. That led me to look at Sagarin. I set up a database using Sagarin @ USA Today after copying to spreadsheet. Went looking for conferences which Sagarin doesn't list.

I used ESPN to look at conferences and after placing all 246 of the teams in A or AA. After soring by conference, I started to look at the SEC (still on ESPN sites until further notice). The SEC has two divisions East & West and play all foes in their division, and then 3 teams from the other division. But one is fixed. Kentucky vs Miss St, Arkansas vs So Carolina, Tennessee vs Alabama, Florida vs LSU, Vanderbilt vs Mississippi, Georgia vs Auburn.

Well ESPN has schedules for 2002-2009. I was looking for conference wins & total wins by season, as well as who played who. Googled Florida and got GatorZone for 1998-2010. But looking for other...

Maybe that tattoo wasn't the best decision ...

Crazy week of College Football. A lot of fun to watch. Except if it was one of you teams that were upset of course. It seems on any given day almost anyone can beat anyone this year. The polls are might look upside down today.

Huge game for both this week. I can't call it. Both defenses were pretty bad against the spread. But neither will have to face it this week. I see this as the turning point for both this week. One will go one way and the other will continue to fall. A hunch I have. I just dont know who steps up and who steps out.

Ducks RB suspended for a year

Ducks suspended RB LeGarrette Blount for the year today following his sucker punch at the end of the game last night. I don't know how any of you feel and I really dont like the Ducks at all, but I think they handled this very well. With Blount being a Senior this ended his playing days. But the University has given him the opportunity to continue to practice with the team and keep his scholarship. Essesntially they are giving him a chance not to play ever again in College but to prove he isnt a thug and stick it out. Given his behavioral problems in the past I am interested to see if he just says screw it or if he actually sticks this out. Either way I really love the way the new Oregon Coach handled this.

UM controversy

I'll check on the Detroit News after I type this up, but I didn't see an article in the box like usual for major articles. There is controversy tonight in A2 as at least a handful of players based on the link below are alleging violations of NCAA rules by the current football staff. The staff denies this though. Will the NCAA investigate this and what will happen?

If schools such as Alabama and Flordia State don't want to vacate wins, then I am in favor of giving them the death sentence and see how they feel about that. The NCAA should start cracking down on the scholarship numbers, too.

Gladstone's King committed to the Chippewas today. I suspect that the action will start picking up in August if Michigan is going to have a bigger year than last year.

To me the percentages don't tell the whole story though as there is a heck of a lot of difference between playing a team such as USC and Indiana.

Ok, there are 8 players that have committed for 2010 so far. In 2009 there were 11 players that had committed at this point in time. So this means that there are 3 fewer committments this year so far. This is probably a good thing since players are probably checking things out better before making a committment. I hate de - committments.

Seems like a good idea. I'm sure it would invoke great memories for older fans of some of the great college football games played at the old Yankee stadium. I also read in another article that the Army/Navy game may be moving to Baltimore or Washington.

The old Yankee Stadium hosted some of college football's greatest moments. The new Yankee Stadium also might host college football -- and the Fighting Irish are interested in writing the first chapter in its gridiron history, the school's athletic director said, according to The New York Times.
