Before you call me an idiot, I did absolutely no research for this list. Just for fun, what does everyone think for an early early early top 10?

Just throwing it out there.

1. Macomb Dakota (not sure why but they are on a roll)

2. Orchard Lake St. Mary

3. Lowell

4. Brother Rice

5. Inkster

6. East Grand Rapids

7. Rochester Adams

8. Muskegon

9. Midland

10. Livonia Stevenson (OK, maybe a stretch, but KLAA represent! plus they still have one of the White brothers returning)

I had Midland returning four starters on offense and three on defense, including 3/4 of offensive backfield with D-1 QB. That's better than most

I'm putting Macomb Dakota at my #1 at least until some scores come in to prove otherwise. I'm a Monkeys fan - I'm a Believer LOL!!!! The
Cougars have the second longest winning streak in the state currently along with playing in the top division. It seems like Coach G. is reloading quickly plus
has a very nice system in place to boot. That's good enough in my book to rank them preseason #1. The one question mark that I do have is how potent is
that quick strike capability at wide receiver for this fall be?

Although I still have a great deal of respect for the CHSL Central teams, they haven't won any championships in the past 2 years so someone else deserves
to be ranked up there at #1.

As far as the OK Red getting 5 teams in the top ten????...C'mon!. Look, I am a west side guy, I think the OK Red is a very good conference, one of the best
in the state, but I think some people go a little overboard on just how strong that conference is. It is not as if all of the teams are powerhouses from top to
bottom. Some of the schools are mediocre at best. For years Holland was a sure win on everyone's schedule ( I know they're gone now). Grand Haven has
never been a powerful team. Barely over .500 in their best years. One playoff appearance in decades. Jenison hasn't fielded a scary team since 2001 and has
coaching and participation issues. Grandville for all their hype each year has usually disappointed with slow starts and untimely losses. West Ottawa is decent
but even they were 5-4 the past two years. EK was alot more about Shillito than the "program". In the past few years, EK has lost to D3 Caledonia by
20, Grandville has lost by 20+ to Lowell...

Baller, you know that was intentional on my part....sh*t stirrer that I am....Plus you make a great argument. Until someone shows DAK then can't, then they
can. Personally I am amazed at how they have distanced themselves from the rest of the MacRed.

Searn, Perhaps 'collapse' was too strong on my part. But they were undefeated a few years ago, and then go an lose to a team they beat in the regular
season. That has happened a couple of times. And those losses to Harrison and BBR were just blow outs...and this decade too. And those losses were later in the
playoffs when you don't expect two teams to be so mismatched. Then you have them bowing out in the first round last year to that 'perennial
powerhouse' Melvindale. Other than when they played EGR close, the year CC was making it 3 in a row, AP has been shown up. Whatever you want to call it,
there playoff finishes have been ugly.

I believe Dakota COULD have went undefeated in the OK Red, because I believe they were stronger in 2007 than any team in state ... but I'm not sure if they
WOULD have went undefeated since it's so tough to get up, play well, and get the breaks to win that many tough games ... and then win in the playoffs.

Look at the recent D1 champs with teams coming out of leagues like the OKRed and CHSLCentral .... There's 5 State Titles there in the 2000's ... and
neither CC or Rockford were able to win the full 14 games.

You can also add to that Brother Rice winning back in 2005 in D2 with a few L's.

Was CC back in the 90s the last team to come out of one of the "Power Divisions" unblemished and win a state title? (I guess the Central teams were
split up back then but they still played all of the Central teams one way or another plus St. Martin DePorres)

Yes that was a bit of a homer pick, but I will tell you that Dakota has 6 starters coming back next year and a very
talented group that went undefeated on JV last year. This year's senior class went undefeated or were 8-1 on JV, now I know that does not always translate
to varsity success but there is alot of talent and a possible key addition at RB that sat out last year due to off the field issues. In 06 Dakota only had 5
starters back and had to replace their entire O line, in 07 they only had 4 starters back and had to replace all of the skill positions on offense including a
D1 QB. Making the semifinals 5 out of 6 years shows that they are a legit contender for the D1 state title year in and year out. So this year they are in a
similar position, but until someone...

HSSportsGuru should consult the stat forum every once in a while to confirm things. 5 - 4 teams win at 33% rate since 1999, which is slightly better than the
lower rated seeds should do once I complete another stat. This means that Grandville's win over the Big Reds was not that abnormal as some might want to
believe. There is no way that the OK Red will have 5 of the top 10 teams in either the first AP poll in D1 or in the Freep and News preseason ratings. They
would be laughed out of the state if they did something like that.

Great input. Blackport is not supsended for any football games, but Jonker is. I hate to say that, because Jordan is a great kid with a bright future. I also

Thanks OKRedfan and EKDad for the Hudsonville/Blackport update. I only know what I read and what I see. I thought Blackport was one of the state's
better QBs last season based on his pre-season and early season publicity. Then I saw him in the first Muskegon game. I was disappointed. Everyone is
entitled to a bad game and, OKRedfan, I agree that was a team loss and not primarily Blackport's fault. I do think he needs to take the blame for the 0-9
passing. I don't remember that many dropped passes, although I admit there certainly could have been some. I do remember reporting after the game that
the game was not as much of a blowout as the 52-0 score would indicate. I felt Hudsonville was a much better team than they showed. Musky got all the breaks,
starting with the lateral fumble that was returned for a TD. I thought Musky got most of the Ref calls as well. Hudsy was certainly flat in the early part of
the game and had trouble containing the Musky QB,...

Whoa, nobody especially me has anything against Casey Blackport. Yes, I know he is 17. He is the starting QB of the Hudsonville Eagles. Which means, he sets
the tone and is supposed to be the leader that other players immulate. We on this forum pull for all of the kids. However, unlike the people on Mlive, we put
our bias aside and try to look at these young men realistically. Casey has not lived up to his potential and all the hype. He had a couple of really, really
bad games that hurt his team. Yes we all know you win as a team and you lose as a team. Casey has a strong arm, but accuracy has been his downfall. 0 for 9
against Musky in the final season game is a fact, I was there! His...

Your thoughts on Blackport are well off the mark. I have a son in the program at a lower level, and the diffrence between Blackport and Trevino are night and
day. Blackport is throwing the ball very well this spring so far, and it seems Trevino much prefers to be a receiver, and seems to have good chemsitry with
Blackport.

According to my son who has friends on the varsity squad several Division One schools stopped by Hudsonville to talk to both him and Jonker and invite them to
camp, so some think he's just fine.

And as far as that 0-9 performance against Muskegon, I don't know what game you watched, but in his defense he was on his back all night long, and had
several dropped passes if I remember correctly. He didn't lose that game by any means, considering both Jonker and Debniack combined for about 30 yards a
piece too and our defense allowed a running clock by the third quarter. Needless to say it was a team loss, and I think the coaches would...

Midland is definitely not Top 10 material. They lose basically their whole team sans Andrew Maxwell. They won't even win their conference.

KleSheen,

I had Midland returning four starters on offense and three on defense, including 3/4 of offensive backfield with D-1 QB. That's better than most finalist
teams from last year. I think Marine City is the only team with more starters returning. However, they are not a lock for a Top 10 spot. They should
definitely be Top 20 however. I do think Midland wins the SVA.

I just think Colter Roberson being gone is going to be a bigger impact than people think. I just think that Arthur Hill is going to run through the SVL
with ease considering they've got 3 of the top 32 players in the state of Michigan, with a...
