HS... actually I have several friends that are OAA coaches (head/asst/scouts) and I do talk to them a lot.

Yes, I have been to several 7's over the past month.

Also, I do base a portion on just what you said... what each team has coming back in '08 and what they lost from '07.

BTW... last night, my poll was updated for the first of two times this pre-season. The first (last night) following several 7/7 passing matches and the second following game scrimmages on 8-21-08.

Oh, I do it for pure enjoyment = fun.

Oaa, what do you base the top tens off so far? Is it just what each team has coming back and what they lost? Have you been going to some of the 7 on 7's? Just curious because it keeps on changing.

haha yeah

I may have Troy and Royal Oak a bit over rated. I have heard rumblings about the young talent for the Colts though.
And then there's the #10 position. Always a difficult call. Watch out for the Lakers.... they should have the speed in the Red.

The Mapes lost a lot from last years 5-4 team. RB Stapleton, LB Fenton, QB Noble, DL Johnson. It would be nice to fly in low and blow 'em out of the water though. I'm so ready for football season.

Yup football is in the air.. and WOW i have been here a long time.. 63 months? jeeze.. I like your top ten alot oaa scouts, but id flip Adams and Lake Orion. and why are the maples flying so low under the radar?

Knight... Rice is all that and more, without question. Very nice work by you and your staff for the scheduling/preparation/etc.... nobody can say Oak Park is taking the easy route, that's for sure ~

Keep a look out for Rabbitt on the Searn and mlive boards, he's an Oak Park freak from the old days!

We are preparing very diligently for Brother Rice. They are one of the premier football programs in the state of Michigan. The game will be a great gauge for our young players. Our players are looking forward to competing against such a well disciplined and well coached team.

Good luck to you Coach Hop. How have I been an Oak Park hater? That is simply not a true statement, and you know it.

One thing though... the assessment that you speak of, do you refer to your game night promotion of the RB after releasing some pretty incredible stats? Hey man, I've know about Baker since you had J Hosey in front of him, so please just stick to facts. You'll need to focus, talent needs coaching too.

I look to see OP do damage in the Red this season.
And please drop Brother Rice, so I can put you in my #1 slot for week 2.

How do you feel going in against that type of program going in week 1?

As usual OAASCOUTS (aka "The Hater") shows that he doesn't know much about the Knights. We are a young team with speed from practically every position. The 10th graders we have in our program will redefine what people think of Oak Park Football. I promise (no hype oaascouts) that the Oak Park Football team will play up to their potential every game. Coach Hopkins does not need to hype his team, he leads by exuding confidence and focus, which permeates the whole football program. OAASCOUTS doubted Coach Hopkins assessment of Edwin Baker a year ago and now where does Edwin rank? Huh OAASCOUTS? You are a straight hater and you always will be a hater. Here are a couple of names to look for as the season gets underway: Darryl Flemster, DeeDee Trammer, Jalen Massenburg, Kenny Demmens, Darius Cross, Deshaun Hagans, Keith Moore, Michael Allen, Jordan Johnson, Belisle Collins, Tim Jones (6"7 jr) and a whole host of others besides the few that OAASCOUTS mentioned. I am a huge Royal Oak fan but am also a realist. The Ravens lost too much from last years team and are not bringing up anything from the JV team that will help. They, and we, will be happy to have a winning season this year. Just give them a few years with their new head coach and they WILL be back in that top ten.

Very true, I still have to adjust to realizing that there are only 25 teams in the league now (even though Mott and Kettering probably wouldn't be in the top ten anyways). Besides that though this season is building up to be a great one and I'm real excited to read all your work come season.

HS... I think they need to prove it but I do feel that they'll compete for 3rd in the White. I am willing to give them benefit of the doubt to start the season out. Besides, there's only 25 teams in the entire league... someone has to step up and be #10, no?

Oak Park Knights (5-4, 2007)

Junior DL Previn Dickson should be one of the leaders on defense. Made noise as a sophomore. Great speed at 6' 225. DL Terrence High is a sack machine and LB Noble Williams is a force as well. Both are seniors.
