In what manner will the fall of the auto industry have an effect on enrollment of the big boys of the CHSL. What smaller schools may ultimately need to close,
and what do we think this league will look like 5 years from now. This is what I see.

The reduction by 100 or maybe more for each of the bigger schools, the mid sized schools will take a hit and that could put them in jeopardy, what does Foley
do for instance if they hit 300 kids?

The smallers will really have some tough choices,...

I don't think you'll see DCC boarded up, you still have Powers in Flint. I don't think you'll see the schools all fade away, but you could
see 10 or less in the area if things get bad.

The question that might happen that DCC might have to answer might be......do you operate as a school with 300-400 boys, or do you go coed, and get back to
700-900 students, that might be an interesting call.

There is a new all girl HS planned to break ground next year not far from DCC. Financing may pose a problem now.

Well, if the auto industry fails I can't think of a worse impact to our region, and for that matter our country economically. There isn't
one line of work that wouldn't be impacted. I even know a Doctor who is worried that all the auto employee patients he has would no longer have the money
or insurance to pay for health care. He says he'd be able to work out affordable cash payments, but it means him making a LOT less money, paying his
suppliers and employees slower or less.

If there aren't enough families with enough income to send kids to private schools, the schools will eventually close. They could reduce
tution to meet what the market bears out as "affordable" temporarily, but operating on a deficit means short term closure unless you are the
government.

Imagine a nice new CC campus boarded up.

I feel confident in saying that the auto industry will never return in Detroit the way it has been. Will the government come in and help it survive...yes of
course it will. But things will change, many jobs will be lost regardless (way more than what has happened), and Detroit will soon resemble Flint, or Gary
Indiana than it will a major city.

Since this is the CHSL forum.....I think it's an appropriate question.

I wouldn't quite call it "eventual" yet. It's bad, but there's a chance it survives.

Now, if/when it collapses the economy will suffer a sonic boom like downward spiral the likes of which we have never seen in this country. The domino effect
will fall from auto companies to suppliers to secondary suppliers, to dealerships and the entire network of ther suppliers. Perhaps a million jobs in the US
would be lost instantly. The effect would continue everywhere these displaced people shop, eat, get gas, and everywhere they have lines of credit. The retail
business is hosed.

The least worry of all may be the survival of the CHSL football. But believe me, it would evaporate quickly. Schools would close. Boarded up in fact.

This could be grim fellas. Grim.
