Since I don't have a dog is this fight..... sorry East siders ... I don't root for anyone based on the side of the state.

Would anyone be surprised if the West took home 5,6 or even 7 of the 8 state championships?

West is looking pretty dominant to me.

Then again if the East pulled some upsets and took 2 out of D1-D4 would that change anything?

I know it's huge... . but how about the OK Conf? and even more , the West Michigan Conf?

Having lived in Traverse City, Jackson, and Mt. Pleasant before moving here 25 years ago, I think the people west of US 27/US127 see themselves as Westsiders.
And those east of that line are eastsiders. IN reality, the mid-michigananders identify with being mid-michigan (Lansing, Jackson area) and those in Mt
Pleasant see themselves and true central michigan residents. North of M 46 I think people see themselves as northern michigan residents. That is how the media
depicts them. So, for the east west debate, I use the us27/us127 divide, and for everything else, I use what the local media uses in that area.

hehe. I understand. In anycase, I could just change everything and convert the site to the Mdot. But frankly I do not have the time. I do think how I ended up
doing it was taking 2 counties on each side of the lakes and going north. The problem came was the SW needed 3 at the very bottom to keep it looking correct.
As for Genesee county well uhm I had so many issues with trying to figure out where to put them at. Frankly it would have been better had I eliminated the
whole county and split them up into the 3 diffrent areas. That just was not going to sit with me. So I think I sent Flint in with the thumb because they were
closer to them than any other region.

NCAA there is a multitude of doing the regions. The reason why I did it the way I did was that for most people those counties would classify themselves as
those. I could have done the MDOT method too which breaks it down even further. As for the MHSFCA All Star Game they want to have equal school representation.
Thats why they only have a few counties. To be honest some on the west side consider that game to be the STATE vs Detroit.

Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb County... are some of the most populated areas in the State. That equals a lot of teams. I think they still would have around 150
just in those three Counties.

But I will have to agree. The SE should include a few of the Counties in the Central Region on his map.

My point is when you break it up you should at least point out the difference in the amount of teams each area is throwing in there. Obviously the UP
doesn't even have half the teams as Wayne County. That is why it doesn't really matter how we vote up here. Michigan always goes how Wayne County
votes.

Let's take Lenawee County on his website - the All Star players play for the most part for the West Side (there has been a few years on the east team). So
that eliminates 11 schools off your list right away for SE Michigan.

I wouldn't have Genesee, Midland, and Saginaw Counties in the Thumb since obviously there aren't in the thumb.

So it is how aowwt wanted to classify the counties, but not what most people would.

Upfootball if aowwt is wrong on the number of UP state championships, at least one of the other regions has to have an additional state championships in his
totals. There is 204 state championships based on my info that has been won:

15 years * 4 championships per year = 60
18 years * 8 championships per year = 144
60 + 144 = 204

So reduce at least 2 won in other regions to be accurate.

After this year, there is 212 state champions won on the football field since 1975.

Plus what aowwt calls Southeast isn't what I call Southeast. And the vast majority of those were won in Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb Counties. So my
percentage for what I call Southeast goes up compared to aowwt's.

Lets take a better look at it...

Upper Pennisula 19 Titles (Region made up of 39 teams)
Northern 16 Titles (Region made up of 79 teams - you combined NE and NW to make this region)
Southwest 60 Titles (Region made up of 116 teams)
Central 23 Titles (Region made up of 94 teams)
Thumb 20 Titles (Region made up of 93 teams)
Southeast 68 Titles (Region made up of 205 teams!)

Looking at raw Titles it looks like the Southeast did well with 68 of them, but then you break it down and you see they have 205 teams in that Region? Not
really fair to compare that with a Region like the UP who has 39 teams. Obviously when you have over 200 of the possible 600 some teams in the State your
chances of winning a Title have to be pretty decent. Especially when you consider how many dePorres had beating up small schools in the playoffs.

When you compare amount of teams with Titles the most impressive Region is the Southwest, which is not...

That is exactly why it is futile to compare scores and opponents. So, many things factor into a given game: injuries, weather, coaching familiarity, personnel
match-ups, rivalry-feud, illnesses, and just plain ol' bad luck. When Lowell and EGR played, Lowell was the better team that night. BUT...the game was 14-6
Lowell late in the 3rd. A long bomb where the safety got beat and a broken play scramble for a TD on 4th down sealed the deal for Lowell. Glendenning not only
had the flu but he is just not the style of runner that will excel on a wet, muddy, grass field (not to take anything from Lowell's D). Lowell's RB was
perfect for those conditions.... a big bruising, straight-ahead kind-of guy. A different field and a different day and MAYBE a different result. My point is
that I don't think you can take one score and assume the winning team is exactly THAT much better than the losing team. If you could, then Musky should
have won that game 100-0. I say good luck to...

  Central 23

  Southeast 68

  Southeast 20

One thing you need to note is that I go by Stadium Location so some schools that on the border between counties may end up having the High school located in

I was wondering about this earlier today ...

No one will be surprised if Rockford and Muskegon win D1 and D2 ...

D3 is a toss up, EGR / Inkster

D4 may also be -- Country Day is better than I thought, but Holland Christian has put up points on everybody.

D5 should go to Oakridge

D6 should go to a very good Montague team

D7 to TCSF -- more of a Northwest team ...

D8 to MCC, who could probably win any of D5 - 8.

So:
D1, 2, 5, 6, 8 are games the west side are probably favored
D3 & 4 can be considered toss ups ...
D7 to a Northwestern team ...

Could this be a year where no state titles are taken home East of I 75 ... or even 127 for that mattter??

There is a reason why they still play the games ... but it is an interesting possibility.
