I certainly did not intend to "bump" anything other than a few specific year old season predictions for DCC. I could care less about the larger thread topic at this point. It's like a Monty Python sketch.

Will this topic ever end?

BBR will win over Rochester Adams. BBR only has to stop the Highlanders run game and they will be fine. Last time I saw RA, they fumbled too much. I expect RA to pass the ball less than 10 times (major hint).

OLSM will win over Melvindale. There simply is too much going on at Melvindale. From what I read online it seemed that the coach's relative showed up on the sidelines even if he got the boot.

DCC will handle Livonia Stevenson. All one has to do is the opposite of what Pendydope says on mdead.

That leaves DLS. If DLS beat GPS, who is suppose to be better than GPN, then DLS should handle GPN with relative easily (20 pt. victory over GPS last week).

Keep the optimism alive! This week is a big one.... These guys are going to be unbelievably hyped to get to the next round! You need to put black licorice in that drink! They chose black, because that is what they wore in 2003..... and we all know what happened that year. Although not everyone got the memo this week.

The RED only comes out for the Playoff run though.

Should be a good year next year, a little luck and some health and it will be a very good year.

By the way, should be a good Hockey Season this year as well.

They return a Freep D-I first team all stater on the offensive line (Jeff Sherman), and I have heard some rumblings of another offensive line transfer that could be coming in January. We will have to wait and see. They lost one starting offensive lineman (Landry), and one starting Defensive lineman (Mheisen). Everyone else is back. In my mind they are the favorite for the Division I title, but I am a little biased. You have to imagine that they will be much improved over last season, with just about everyone back. I honestly believe that they have the potential to run the table next year. Now I don't think that will happen, but I am certain that it is possible.

How many of CC's o-linemen are wrestlers by chance? I'm guessing that number has gone down since the early '00s

From talking to someone from Hudsonville, it sounds like they lose pretty much everyone ... and they might struggle to make the playoffs with such a tough schedule.

I have not done my homework on the CHSL yet ... so it's tough to pick a record ... 7-2 was just my first reaction.

What are people actually expecting of this CC team in 2009? I'm not sure.

They have the skill position players returning, but what about the trenches? They got handled pretty good by teams like Stevenson and DLS in the trenches...

What is there identity?

Power team, finesse team? Didn't even look like CC even attempted to play power football against Stevenson.

8-1 would be really impressive, 7-2 is possible, 6-3 is acceptable, but it's the games from week 10 and on that'll prove how good this team is. This could be a very solid team for DCC.

I'll go with 7-2. I don't think they go through the Central schedule undefeated. If they get by Hudsonville (early line is a toss-up), they lose two in league play. They could also lose to Hudsy and only lose one in league play. Either way, it's looking like 7-2. I don't think there will be a DLS (undefeated team) in the CHSL Central next year.

I think 6-3 is more like than 8-1. That would mean a loss to Hudsonville, a loss in the regular conference season, and a loss in the Prep Bowl. Even at 6-3, they have to be one of the favorites to win the Div. 1 State Championship.

My prediction for CC is 8-1 or 7-2. They should have a stacked team, but OLSM and Rice will both be very good next year along with Hudsonville (always good!). I don't know a whole lot about Monroe. I am not sure who they will lose to, but I hope it is not Rice. Rivalry's require a mix of both teams winning.

I was well into my adult years before they started playing the Boys Bowl at Wisner. I do remeber my first Boys Bowl and it was at Briggs Stadium against Boystown. Now that was a real Boys Bowl. The crowd for this regular season game was bigger than the State Championship games at Ford Field.

Before you start shooting the messenger, I'm a big CHSL fan, and cheer my tail off for all the teams. But it's clear that the glory days of this league have ended. The CHSL is now just another decent football league. Not the bench mark. The quality of these programs has softened greatly the last 3-5 years. The lack of conversation on this page alone, proves it. With the future looking like decreased enrollment in these schools, it will not turn around in the forseeable future. Kinda sad really.
