This is partly because the OAA and MAC Red basically do not participate in non conference games ... The CHSL plays some tough games and out of state powers, but they also mix in some weaker opponents such as teams from Canada.

Muskegon: 2 - 0 (PF 77, PA 27) * 1 opponent made the playoffs
Rockford 2 - 0 (PF 37, PA 26) * both opponents made the playoffs
Hudsonville: 2 - 0 (PF 88, PA 28) *1 opponent made the playoffs, other is out-of-state
West Ottawa: 2 - 0 (PF 57 - PA 35) *1 opponent made the playoffs, other is out-of-state
East Kentwood: 1 - 1 (PF 75, PA 76) * both opponents made the playoffs
Grand Haven: 1 - 1 (PF 43 - PA 52) * both opponents made the playoffs
Grandville: 1 - 1 (PF 85, PA 66) * both opponents made the playoffs
Jenison: 0 - 2 (PF 40, PA 67) * both opponents made the playoffs

Totals: 11 - 5 (PF 502, PA 377)
Out of 16 total games, 13 opponents made the playoffs, and 2 schools were from out of state.
Which means that the OK Red only played one non con game against an MHSAA school that didn't get in.

That would be a tough road for any team .. even if Hudsonville was bringing back a lot of those guys you mentioned.

Hopefully Hville can pull out 5 or 6 wins and get into the playoffs.

There is a very real chance Hudsonville starts out 0-2 next season, and misses the playoffs with four total loses.

Projected loses:

Lowell - wk 1
Detroit CC - wk 2
Muskegon - wk?
Rockford - wk?

That leaves them at 5-4, and who knows who the third game of the year will be against.

Without the services of Blackport, Jonker, Prince, Keur and the rest of their graduating call things will be bad. CC is trying to get Det. Southeastern again for it's opener but has not received a committment yet. Their second game is home against Hudsonville then at Monroe the third week.

Searn, this is confirmed regarding Hudsonville and yes, no Canadian teams this year


If so I'm not sure I've seen a team with as a tough a first 5 games in the season as Hudsonville come 2009.
