I will certainly add my two cents worth during the MAC Red Season and look forward to serious football talk on this board as opposed to the name calling and
sophomoric conversation that take place in other places.

I do not like to be critical of our truly amatuer athletes and I think I got off on the wrong foot with my first post as you pointed out regarding Davis.
My comments came out as critical and I only intended to express a concern I have with his conditioning. Your points regarding divison I offers is noted and I
can not argue that they must be impressed to give valuable scholarship offers. He does play a highly coveted position for College recruiters and this will
only help him if he follows up his offers with a strong season. I will say that he impressed me during the basketball season, with surprisingly light feet and
a solid touch around the basket. He showed me some of his athletic ability that I was not expecting to see on the baskball court....

It was pure luck that I showed up that day ... otherwise I may not have known Dakota existed until late in the season or even the playoffs ...

CC was pretty banged up (Top 2 RBs were out, and other top players playing at about 70%) but WLW was an excellent team as they proved by finishing 14-0.

It was basically an even game except for about a 5 minute stretch in the 3rd quarter in which WLW racked up some points
1. INT for TD
2. Fumble to set up FG
3. Fumble and return to inside 5 to setup TD

I believe that was 3 consecutive possessions for CC.

Other than that neither team could really move the ball.

Yeah I remember being shocked when I saw that score(CC/WLW) in the paper. It seemed that many people that year had CC slated for a 3 peat and I remember we had
went to see CC in the Prep Bowl at the Dome vs Rice and CC looked very impressive(31-12) and finished off an undefeated regular season. I couldn't believe
they had lost let alone by the margain they did. I believe it was their top RB John Kava that was injured, but from what you said it sounds like he wasn't
the only one.

That was the same night we had upset CV in the districts, with CC gone, alot of us really thought running the table would be realistic. BTW I picked up TC
Cameron's High School Rivalry book and it was pretty cool that he mentioned our upset of CV in the 99 playoffs as the catalyst for making the rivalry what
it is today.

Searn you were definitely the only one who ranked us that year. We were picked to finish 4th in the MAC White LOL!

It's funny that you mention WLW's best from the 90's. I honestly think our team in 99 would have had a pretty good shot at knocking WLW off if we
would have reached the finals. Now I know scrimmages don't translate into the games but we were physically superior to WLW at their 4 way that year and I
think with our QB and passing game we would have matched up quite well against there 4-6.

Who knows though we still would have had to get past Ike in the semi's which would have been a tough game. It's just tough to get over the fact that

I do believe overall AA/D1 was tougher back before they expanded the playoffs. It seemed like back then a lot more teams used to play up a classification ...

First of all rhenson2000 let me welcome you to Searn's site and the MAC Board. Nice to see some new posters and fresh insight for the MAC board which is
still on the newer side. I'm a former player(99/00)/current fan of Dakota an it sounds like you are an SHS insider.... it would be great if you could
contribute your thoughts/game recaps on SHS and the MAC Red this year if you have the opportunity.

As far as Davis thanks for the insight. I guess I should have been more clear that I wasn't trying to say he was the SHS MVP only that he is by far there
most talented and sought after player who does not get mentioned very often. Your criticism I'm sure has some merit and it sounds like he has some of the
same loafing tendencies as the MI DT recruit Will Campbell did. With that being said when the kid is not gassed and motivated he is a difference maker on the
inside. I'm sure his size and weight has something to do with his recruiting but there is no way...

Another tough year in the MAC Red. It will be close with the possibility for upsets every week. If the Titans put together a solid defense, they will be
tough to beat, as that offense just has too many weapons. A key injury to any of the big weapons could derail the train in a big hurry. As far a big # 74
being the most over looked Titan, having seen every game he has ever played, he still has a lot to prove to me, to say he is a dominating player. He is a
load, but his technique and ability to play a lot of plays in a row at a high level must be questioned. He could not do it last year and heres to hoping he
has done his work over the summer. His preseason hype is based on two things- size and weight. Charlie Walker will be the playmaker on that defense, but
there are still a lot of questions about if they can stop some of these high powered offenses in the leauge.
Good luck to everyone in the MAC Red, I cant wait for the season to begin.

In 1996 SHS was very good as well taking down an excellent Westland John Glenn team in the Semi Finals. When the matchup of WLW/SHS was determined it was
pretty much a given that Stevenson and Bye would finally get it done. John Glenn had handed WLW an embarassing loss earlier in the year ... I believe it was
24-0, the embarassing part being that WLW's potent offense was somehow held to 18 total yards. Very impressive given the Warriors firepower on offense
with one of the top 10 most dangerous high school...

DVI good assessment. BTW come around more often we need all the posts we can get on the MAC board. SHS probably has a class of recruits as good as the Joe

Merchman(Sp?). They aslo picked up a running back off waivers, Corley, who was let go by Dakota due to undisclosed reasons. Well, actually, the only thing
undisclosed was Corley's weed during a surprise locker drug inspection. Look for Stevenson to be the favorite, but I like Dakota's strategy over the
years against Stevenson. Bring a lot of pressure, and get your hands in the face of the vertically challenged QB. I can easily see a one loss team winning the
