Agree. That was a good post East GuRu. Well-written and well thought-out. As for the "awestruck" comment, I agree it can be an important
intangible. I've seen it before in Brother Rice games. I think it was a factor last year in the opener vs Oak Park, although as it turned out, OP was
grossly overrated. It has helped Brother Rice in games they used to play in Week One at the Silverdome vs some pretty good teams who were not used to
playing at the Dome. Rice rarely lost those games even though they were playing teams that were arguably better. It usually took a half or so before those
good teams got rid of the intimidation factor and played up to their abilities. That was often too late.

Thanks for the scouting report on EGR. I don't know any of those names you mentioned, but I assume you have some knowledge of their ability. I'll
take a wait-and-see approach. I still suspect that Glendenning will not be that easy to replace and East...

EastGuRu I think you hit the nail on the head. I agree with you also 100% on the "awestruck" comment. When playing EGR, you just come in with a
mental barrier that you have to overcome. I'd be surprised if a first time (playing EGR) team came in and just knocked them down. I'd like to just
through out there though that I put Mt. Pleasant on my short list of possible upsetters BECAUSE of the the last two years in which they've been blown out
by EGR in the playoffs. Now, if I was a betting man I'd pick St. Joe/Lakeshore/OLSM to be the team to upset EGR well over Mt. Pleasant but there's just
something in me that's saying that they have to want to get revenge on those embarrassing loses and if utilized well, it could be enough to pull an upset.
I hope no Mt. Pleasant fans/alumni take offense to what I've said, I just wanted to make my slim case for them.

Good post, EastGuRu.

One might choose "the field" over EGR this year (or any year for that matter). But if you have to pick just one favorite, it would be hard to pick
anyone else.

EGR impact/skill position players this year: Josh Drummond (RB/FB/DB), Voss brothers Colin and Trent (TE, RB, DE, LB), AJ McEwen (WR, QB, DB), Ryan Elble (QB
likely), Kirk Spencer, (RB, DB). There may be others coming up from JV that will have an impact but these are the "for sure's" barring injury.
No superstars like Glendenning's or Grady's but all very good players, all with shots at being All Metro GR players.
Interestingly, there is one more Grady in the pipeline and he will be a Soph this year. Don't know if he will make the move up or not. Good athlete that
saw significant PT on Varsity Basketball so it is very possible that Stuursma will bring him up.

As far as EGR getting knocked off...certainly anything is possible. EGR's run will end sometime. No one stays on top forever.

After last years drubbing, I can't really get my mind around a Mt. Pleasant or Bay City Glenn pulling some kind of upset. Those teams had...

They always have players to make an impact. I'm going to take the chance right now and go out on a line and declare that EGR will not win D3 this year.
Someone will get a lucky break against them and knock them off. Of course I think I'm partially crazy for even suggesting EGR loses, but someone is bound
to beat them in the playoffs at some point and this year I think will be the best chance someone (anyone) has. I'd go as far as to predict Mt.
Pleasant/Lakeshore/St. Joe/OLSM will be the team to knock them out this year. I'd toss Chelsea/Dewitt/Adrian in, but they haven't advanced far in the
playoffs in the last several years, so I don't know enough about them to make such a wild guess as I already have made. The only reason I would pick the
four teams above is because they'll have playoff experience already and it just takes one good game to move on to the next round. But i say this all with
the notion in mind that I am most likely wrong and EGR will win...

No problem with my vote. I live in the Mid Michigan Area and from what I am hearing on the sports talk radio, TV and the LSJ, DeWitt baring injuries should be
very solid and a contender. They have size speed, experience and a very good kicking game. They also have depth and a great work ethic. Anything can happen,
but I think DeWitt will be a factor this year. Hope I don't jinx then.
