Part of the problem was that OLSM didn't make the playoffs last fall plus look at the score from last year. I do believe that only two or three non playoff teams made my original list for week 1. One was Parkway Christian since they forfeited their way out of the playoffs. If this matchup happened during week 2 after OLSM played someone good during week 1, then I might have overlooked last years score. Sometimes that will happen on my prediction list if I feel that too many people will take the same team. I want games where some differences of opinion might happen. BTW I am down to 3 or 4 predictions on my Super 32 list that I emailed everyone with a while back. The relatively new person got the tentative list in an email so he could look at the potential games before officially making his decision. He shouldn't be at a disadvantage for week 1 either since there is still plenty of time to gather info from whatever source he wants plus the preseason newspaper articles...

Dang, MrNcaa, it's hard to make your Super 32 if two top-5 teams (at least in D3) can't make the list!

For the record, my "on a limb" comment was supposed to indicate that I'm expecting a (much) closer game... Certainly not a no-brainer.

That's why the game didn't make my Super 32 first week game predictions since too many people would take EGR without any research.

OLSM has a lot of good, not great, skill players to help out Bolden this year. Senior tight end Michael Padula who started as a junior...Senior wide recievers Nick Larson, Evan Webster, and Michael Furlong, who all saw lots of time as juniors (except larson who broke his ankle against Brother Rice). With the addition of Junior wide out Allen Robinson, and Sophomore Keith Stonestreet the EAGLETS should provide a lot of solid routes and unselfish play to help out the D-1 QB..

I'm actually not sure. I certainly don't think it would be as much of an upset as the people on the west side of the state. Since I'm not as high on EGR this year as the west siders, I am expecting a closer game than last year. Right now, I would say an OLSM win would be a "mild upset." The long trip....

During their back to back titles, 22 game win streak run they had a grand total of 2 D1 prospects, one who is at a D2 school now and the other is playing in the MAC. Not exactly big time BCS recruits.

When I first saw Bolden as a freshman playing on the JV team, I wrote that he would end up being better than Siller. I still think he has the potential to achieve that, but it's far from a sure thing. I realize he is highly-rated and a big-time recruit, but after watching him for the last three years, I don't see a lot of improvement I think he was best his Soph. year. I saw some regression last year. Which way will he go this year? I'll be watching. A lot of it has to do with the players around him. Two years ago, he had a stable of quality players. Last year, the best player missed most of the season. There were some gamers on the team (Fiorini, Woodland, etc.) but they were not up to the challenges of the CHSL schedule (and EGR/Davison). This year, I see a big question mark for OLSM. There will be a lot of pressure on Bolden to perform. But, the supporting cast is not there. Bottom line. Bolden was smart to commit before the season and before schools...

PSU is a fine school. I hope RB does well. He should talk to Justin Siller so he doesn't make the same mistakes.

Hearing from people in the know, some of the stuff said by him and on the websites did turn off Bolden and his family. It will be interesting to see if Valenti backs up his previous claim that PSU would get Bolden's dad a job if he committed there.

Not to mention that the Spartan stable is filling up with QBs.

btw. Valenti is a putz. He is more of the abrasive NYC type than Spartan. Ironically, when I went to NYC somewhat recently, I found New Yorkers warm and friendly.

I am guessing that Valenti wears out his welcome within one year. But do you honestly think that the words of putz would have any impact on the kids'/familys' decsion? I am not so sure.

Robert Bolden, a 6-foot-4, 195-pound quarterback from Orchard Lake St. Mary's, committed to Penn State on Friday. Bolden, considered one of the top three quarterbacks in the state, had narrowed his choices to five schools before making his decision. The others were Louisville, Northwestern, Oregon and Vanderbilt.

"Penn State was the best fit for me, academically and athletically," Bolden said. "I got along well with the coaching staff, including coach (Joe) Paterno."

Last season Bolden completed 72-of-113 pass attempts for 951 yards and seven touchdowns....
