Thanks for the positive feedback. One other Fun Fact about Linden: The Eagles have had a player start in the East v West All state game every season since 2002 and that streak will continue this year with QB Cody Marks(more than likely since he's been All-state since his sophmore year).

I believe this is some accomplishment for a class B school, so its not for lack of talent!

Now that is the kind of Info I find interesting. When I originally posted this thread I openly stated that I knew nothing of Linden. I now know much more. Sounds like a solid, hard-working program that might be close to breaking through. Tell them guys to drink more milk tho, man. All those broken bones in the playoffs......geez!

BTW, don't be a lurker, dude. Keep us up to date on Linden or chime in on some of the other topics. You're always welcome here.

Outstanding LindenGuy. Thank you. I can bet some of the HS FB freaks with photographic memories here will be glad to add that to their knowledge base.

It's true, the MHSAA operates in strange and mysterious ways. Without a doubt Linden has had some nasty first round draws.

Make sure you read the threads by Auldschool and Snooze2me about playoff points and potential regional setups. I think their experience makes this advance information pretty accurate. Check out your team,. Good luck this year.

First let me say that I normally do not post on forums, I just like to read because some of the stuff is informational but most of it is just funny (mlive). But this thread was brought to my attention and I think I can help shed some light on the topic.

The main reason that you don't know of or talk about the Linden Eagles is, as you have touched on, as a result of their not so impressive playoff record. However, when you diagnose those losses it is a different story because they have been a victim of some unlucky first round pairings.

1999-1st Rd loss to defending state champion Chesaning who lost to eventual state Champ OLSM.
2000-1st Rd loss to defending and eventual state Champ- OLSM
2001- Missed the Playoffs by 2 pts, down year bad senior group
2002-1st Rd loss to eventual state Champ- Grand Rapids South Christian(also won bball title), 0-0 until 1 minute left in 1st half,
2003-1st Rd loss to Dewitt eventual state runner-up &...

Well, I did SPECIFY a time frame of comparison with Adrian, I did also SPECIFY another school (Southfield) over A SPECIFIC time frame. I also did SPECIFICALLY state that I was not picking on you. Do you have anything more to add concerning Linden?? Plus I should point out that Adrian was in the top 96 - 107 playoff team win wise when I did the stats for 2008. Linden is way down there - 376 - 457. No wonder why Linden don't get mentioned much on here since they are in the bottom half of the playoff wins list. Plus other than Oxford and Lapeer West no other team in the league has over 2 playoff wins.

Wow, so you are really comparing a team with a playoff record of 11 - 12 to a team having a 1 - 11 playoff record. The Maples have made 3 decent playoff runs (back to back semis plus a quarterfinal appearance). I will take the 11 - 12 playoff record all the time then. A ton of that won loss record that Adrian plays is against schools way BIGGER than itself (Pi Hi was the biggest school in the state for decades plus another rivalry game against Monroe). Plus the Freep and News sometimes list the Maples in their ratings. Linden doesn't play real big schools. Plus I don't hype Southfield, but they did have a playoff run last year. That's why they get more pub on here. I did call out Southfield one year for the mdead 7 on 7 result when they got overhyped. It's no secret that I like teams that won a ton of playoff games before. Plus the message boards is all about having fans write about any topic that they deem fit within reason.

They wear ugly singlets in wreslting and they have a great wrestling coach. They are the Eagles and wear Red and White.

Well, since you brought it up, here's an example: The combined record of Linden from 2002 to the present is 61-15. The combined record for Adrian over the same time frame is 56-21. Linden has one playoff win and Adrian 3 but neither team has made it out of districts in that time frame. Yet, the amount of discussion of Adrian far exceeds that of Linden - on this board, and probably everywhere, except the local Linden paper.

I'm not trying to pick on you MrNCAA but you asked and that is one example of what I was thinking. Here's another one. I have seen more than a couple of references, in one form or another, ....(good game, bad game, big upcoming game, whatever) to Southfield over the same time frame and yet their record is a measly 40-33 with only one successful playoff year. Most of us know a little, or maybe even a lot, about Southfield. And yet, Linden???? nothing. As I said, I understand now, but you wanted examples........

Can you be more specific since you don't bring up the other schools? I think that most schools that we discuss on here have double digit playoff wins. There are a couple of exceptions except I don't really bring them up.

I have with Highland Park this year since they've played a tough schedule so far and have been competitive in games.

I'm speaking of Linden. I will admit I know nothing about this school. I can't recall anyone ever discussing them or their players and yet they have made the playoffs every year since 2002, while playing a Class A schedule. I've never even seen any Mlive trolls touting the school. Anybody have any insight??
