Folks, come on. He is 17 maybe 18. He will be redshirted gain some strength and weight. He was recruited for his speed and athletic ability. Just because he is a running back now does not mean he will in college. He has enough speed to be a DB, Safety. D1 Colleges only want size, speed and athleticism. Colleges will determine a position and then work with them on how to play it. That's how it works boys. Time will tell.

As a fan of HS football but no ties to either team this is what I saw. I know a couple families in both schools.

Went to the game to see how these 2 typically strong teams look this year.

I felt both teams were average at best.
The Spartans played the game very safe, run, run and control the clock.
I do not blame them, bad weather and playing a Novi team that is struggling to generate any offense.
Novi depleated by injuries was very ineffective on offense.
Livonia has a couple good RB, White made some very nice runs, especially on the long time consuming final drive to kill the clock.
Several key 3rd and long runs to keep the ball away from Novi.
I am not sure about White being a D1 starter, great speed good vision, looked like he was trying to break big runs early instead of just moving the chains. Needs to put some weight on or he will get hurt playing college ball.
The play calling was good for Livonia, counters, and multi...

Well Tommy... he ran for 142 yards on 34 carries.. but he certainly a different player on grass than turf. Watching him yesterday (and I've seen him a few times in the past)... I'm just not sold.

BTW... the crossover matchups I mentioned earlier are pending any decision by the MHSAA to overturn the score of the Plymouth/Glenn game (which I hear was really screwed up at the end by the refs).

I guess I totally disagree with you guys...I have seen Austin play a total of 10 times in 3 years...And he is every bit a D1 player...

Playboy... agreed. I still don't get the impression that Austin white is Division 1 material. And, McGuffie was a high school legend.... he's definitely not that.

Looks like winner of Novi/Northville gets Glenn. Loser gets the winner of the Franklin/Plymouth game.

Good game by Livonia Stevenson against Novi tonight. They did what they needed to do and Novi could not stop the running game. At least they only lost by 7 although they do have to win out to make the playoffs.

White showed his talent off in a good way but if i had to tell you that he's Big Ten material I'd be lying. He's no better than McGuffie who went to Michigan and was all but affective, and now he's gone.

Anyways, i have a good feeling about Novi getting the W next week and possibly winning the crossover depending on who they play. Stevenson will probably lose to Canton in the crossover and finish 6-3, with Novi finishing 6-3 and Northville 5-4.
