The way Abrams was hobbling around in warm ups last week...it's hard to believe he'll be 100%.... What's wrong with Nickerson???

If Abrams is really 100%, I think I'd rather see Nickerson on the sidelines (unless he's really needed). There are a lot of good backs on the Marine City roster, and Tope is just fine as a QB. If they have the firepower that a healthy Jamel Abrams brings to the game, I'd rather have Nickerson saving himself for the later rounds of the playoffs.

Welcome to the baord walk126. Thanks for the injury update. Nice to know MC should be close to full strength. Sounds like they will need it this week and beyond to make a run.

Nice to see Marysville competitive again to re ignite this rivalry.

It was 13-6 late in the 3rd quarter and a couple of miscues by Marysville is what cost them, especially some of the clock management issues at half time. Powers beat Country Day by 2 tds... Marshalls only loss was to JLC.... Cros-Lex totally out played Powers but couldn't get the ball in the endzone..... that make Powers less of a threat...Powers beat CDay by 2 tds..... I think a semi-final against Marshall would be a great game to see......

I have all the respect for JLC..... too bad their in the same region.... would love to see a JLC vs MHM final...let's not forget about last year finals appearance by Ovid-Elsie....

I live in Marysville and I've been a big MC fan since 1995 when they took over the #1 team in the area... I've seen MC play 3 times this year and have not been impressed with them.....#32 didn't play the last game....starting QB didn't play........so I give credit for winning.... Marysvilee started to peak in week 7 and are on a run... I admit their compition is less than MC.....confidence is a powerful thing..... I think Marysville has a legitimate chance at winning the game...not saying they will but I think it's gonna be a close game...like yesteryear....

Aslanprime, I couldn't agree more. But if you were at the NDP game, you know that there was not a snap that saw #10 or #32 in the game for Marine City. Those two make up a HUGE part of the Mariner offense. I don't know how serious their injuries are, but this team cannot offered to have them both at less than 100%.

If what I'm hearing us true, I have a lot of respect for the Viking coaching staff. I hear they agreed to move the game to Saturday evening to give the kids an extra 24 hours to lick their wounds (I assume that required visitor agreement).

Ughh. See, you had to go and scare me. I was all happy thinking MC would roll on and then I could worry about Powers. The Powers barely beats Cros-Lex and Marysville HAMMERS Richmond. Now I have to be scared this wekend.

Not to mention, it'd be a loss to the hated Vikings...I'd rather lose to anybody but them.

True enough. My real concern is that Marysville has played very good football since the 25-13 first meeting, and MC is far from healthy right now.

To be fair, Marysville hasn't deserved that praise in over 15 years. So unless Walt Braun is coming back...I'm gonna wait until Marysville gets out of the MAC Silver before I recognize them as a "top program" again. Definitely a top 10 program based on their teams of 15-25 years ago, but not so much lately. And I'm not "dissing" the MAC Silver...Madison could beat Marysville and MC this year without a problem.

MC already handled Marysville once this season, I'm confident they can do it again. Marysville won't lay down for their rival, but neither will MC allow Marysville to walk into East China and spoil their run.

NDP and Powers are scary because they are used to playing great competition every week. They made it past NDP, and Powers didn't look impressive against Cros-Lex...so I'm a little less worried than I was Thursday.

The playoffs are never an "easy road"...each game is a big game. MC needs to go through their rival, then probably Powers. And they'd still need to beat a team like Marshall just to get to the finals. And, unfortunately, that's where I see the biggest problem, Grand Rapids West Catholic. A lot of people are saying Kingsford, I'd actually love to see Kingsford over GRWC for the Mariners sake. And I'm assuming Country Day gets beat which is a pretty big assumption given their 49-6 win last night over a decent...

Funny that you post this and mention NDP and Powers. I think you miss the biggest obstacle to Marine City in that region. Marysville will not roll over and let Marine City win this thing. You can throw out names like Flint Powers, but Marine City fans in the know are concerned with Marysville, one of the top programs in the history of the MHSAA who have been on a mission since losing to the Mariners earlier this season, and who condsider it a good season when Marine City is in their "W" column. This is a team that Marine City fans respect, no matter what the W-L recdord looks...

I'd love for Marine City to win it all, but I don't see them beating Grand Rapids West Catholic. They'll have a hard enough time getting through Notre Dame Prep and Flint Powers.

Madison is absolutely dominant despite drawing JLC in the same region. I see them winning it all.

I agree homer, when I saw Madison's draw I thought it was a tough break for them to have JLC in the same region. That being said, I think MHM with their new HC and the talent they are getting from Detroit.... I would not be surprised to see MHM make a long playoff run and be a consistent player in D5.

Also, fuzzduzz, I saw you say that you've seen Madison play and can't see anyone beating them (which may be true). But have you seen Lumen Christi play? I can't get the thought out of my head that JLC is the best team in D5. It's a shame (for one of them) that these two teams are in the same region.

There have been Marine City teams in the past that I've thought were better than the 2009 team, who didn't win state titles. That being said, the side of the bracket Marine City finds itself on is less than impressive. I wouldn't be surprised by a trip to Ford Field, based on the match-ups they will face to get there.

Of course, I think it's very difficult to figure out how good Flint Powers or Detroit Country Day might be, considering the schedules they play. One of those teams could knock off Marine City and I wouldn't be shocked by it. Who else on the east side of the brackets do think is dangerous in D4? Now, the other side of the bracket...that is a whole different story.

EDIT: while I tend not to be...

While SHS is an easy & logical choice, there are some teams in the lower divisions such as Marine City and Madison who could make a good run. I hope all MAC teams play well and advance, and possibly bring home multiple state titles like they did in 07.
