Why not MSU? A bunch of reasons. Its football. The academics is better. It's just everything. The program, the tradition; Michigan State just isn't as good.

who has been to many many MI colleges and universities it is pretty plain to see. And, as you know there are many things that put state above another
school...yes even M and even ND.
What is the determining factor is what is in MM's heart and his dome. Like basically does he want to be a booger chewer, or a person? But it is nice the
kid has real school options.

next year, olsm goes undefeated. and since this is a CC topic, i predict they beat CC by at least 2 touchdowns.

Just post on topic and I have no problem.
As for OLSM, I thought they were a top 25 team going into the season .... and if you told me they would lose 2 games within the CHSL and make the D3 finals I would not have argued. I had OLSM #2 in D3 ... worked out! I had them losing to 2 CHSL teams ... (mine were Rice and DLS, not Rice and CC) So was pretty close.

Good thread on CC. One question, how did CC's JV do against Brother Rice's JV last year? Just curious.

I really cannot not see a single team from the OK Red being afraid of CC---they travel, the play in one of the toughest conferences in the state, and play for championships each season. The "Bible-belt of Michigan" or as a friend of mine says "Mini-Texas" would welcome the shamrocks. Next time CC has an opening start dialing the OK Red schools--bet you don't get to the bottom of the list before you get a taker: Rockford Muskegon East Kentwood Jension Grandville etc. |

ok gonz, but olsm, rice, and dls are all playing a team from the west part of michigan. why didnt CC get on that? no one is afraid of cc anymore as much as
they fear olsm and rice. olsm still needs another team for next year and rice frequently goes out of state. cc will never be the power they used to be.

CC won 8 State Titles in 14 years in D1/Class AA, and 6 of 9 at one point. It would be very tough for CC or any team to reach the "power they used to be" status. I would be very surprised to see them get back to that rate, but that does not mean they can't build back up to a very strong program that is competing yearly in the CHSL and D1. Things run in cycles, it wasn't but 10 years ago that there were a lot of questions as to where the Brother Rice program was heading under AL. There was a 7 year span in the 1990's where Brother Rice didn't win a single playoff game. They made the playoffs 3 times and lost in the first round each time.CC might not ever win at the rate they did from the late 80s until the early 2000's --- but they can still be a strong program. Even if CC got to the level where OLSM and Rice are RIGHT NOW, they would be no where near where the program was at it's peak. |

It is an "old" argument, but based on the user name, gonz is an old man now. Gonz was at CC at a point where his statement was accurate. Back in
"our day" the OK Red teams mentioned were not thought of what they are today for the most part. That was a time where the west side teams made long
playoff runs by beating their own, but then USUALLY got beat down by the top east side teams.
I'm not sure who wants to play CC these days, but I'm sure some of those OK Red teams would be willing.

That said, I think I can speak for everyone here when we say CC is "back" -- we are not saying they will suddenly run off with 6 titles in the

Boeing question for you. | #38 | ||

I am not so sure I agree that Rice and OLSM are that far ahead of DLS or CC. Maybe it has something to do with home field advantage. I was wondering if
anyone could tell me how often Rice & OLSM have lost a league game "AT HOME" in the past 5 years? I'm willing to
argue that it rarely ever happens. Why is that? Are they that much better than everyone else (excluding DC and UofD), or is it because the refs give them
every break in the book?

I've never thought that home field made much difference, if any in high school ... aside from maybe a 10 hour drive.
Though in the CHSL it does seem that OLSM does VERY WELL at home. I agree that there are 3 groups of teams in the Central, #1 Rice/OLSM, #2 DLS/CC, #3 UD/DC
