I've attended the State Title Weekend for 17 years in a row now; and the trend is never more evident than at those games. Often times, there will be a D6 school with far more fans than the D2 or D4 school showing up after the D6 game. Many times, these larger schools are from the Metro Detroit area, and there is no argument for their lack of attendance that can be attributed to drive time- gas money.
Just wondering aloud- why does this phenomenon exist? Why do fans of smaller schools/districts seem to care so much more than the fans of larger ones?
