Unfortunately, the only two "Greater Lansing" schools to win a championship in the Top 2 classes (top 4 divisions) are Grand Ledge in 2000 and East
Lansing in 1991..... and that's in the last 30+ years! While there have been some good teams along the way, they tend to be forgotten since they
haven't brought home the hardware in a long time. If teams like Everett, St. Johns, DeWitt, Holt, Okemos, or East Lansing can finish, then the talking
heads will start talking about "Lansing".
BTW, I find this interesting....With all the discussion about turnout and support of GR football vs. Detroit football, a common excuse offered up is that there is just so much more to do with your leisure time in Detroit (pro sports and other entertainment,,etc.). Now, Lansing certainly has no more "distractions" than GR (in fact, less IMO) and yet their support for HSF is, at best, equal to Detroit's, in terms of fan attendance and local TV and radio coverage. Hmmmmmm, I wonder why. |

If your lookin to drop some names than go for it, but this isnt a recruiting site, and probably wont help your cause much. We talk about good teams here more
than good players.

Seems to me like "gpayne" is talking about players and others are talking about teams.
To that, ... I'm not sure Rockford and Dakota were very good examples. Rockford and Dakota mostly get talked about due to fielding overall teams, ... not individual talent and/or recruits. You do not necessarily have to play for one of the top teams in the state to get noticed by recruiters (though it probably doesn't hurt) ... many of the top players in the state do not play for powerhouse teams. Here's the list of currently committed MHSAA players http://michiganhsfootball...A-Verbal-Commitments.html

Lansing Everett? Looks to be a pretty tough team this year. Lost to 5-0 Grand Ledge by only 2 points. Some tough games on the schedule comin up.... |

Gpayne, it is very rare for any kid to start as a true freshman anywhere in D1. If there are kids that are that good in Lansing, the scouts will find them.
There are plenty of good people that can evaluate talent and they would know it if any kids in Lansing were among the 10 best kids in the state.
