Holland at Muskegon |

I think this game will be kinda close at halftime but Muskegon will pull away in the 3rd and 4th quarter. I am expecting to see an largely improved Holland
team since last time I saw them but I don't think they have enough to beat the Big Reds. TA will simplify the game plan, probably running a basic power
football scheme which will keep the game close at first and will also have the effect of not showing too much. This will work well if Muskegon ends up playing
Kenowa but won't matter if they play Hudsonville since they can't really hide from them. I think the score will be 34-14 Muskegon.

My personal opinion is that this will be a blowout from start to finish.
Holland returned like their entire Offensive backfield this year, but I dont think they have the size or speed to hang with Muskegon. In the Dutch's 3 losses they gave up an average of 47 points a game and only scored 7. By Jane Bos The Grand Rapids Press HOLLAND -- When their school name flashed on the television screen Sunday night -- indicating Holland was in the football playoffs for the first time in school history -- coach Shaun McManus, the football players and the community gathered in the school's gymnasium cheered loudly. It did not even faze the Dutch much when they saw their first-round opponent was Muskegon, the unbeaten O-K Red Conference champion. "We knew it would be a tough draw no matter what, there are so many good Division 2 teams in the area," McManus said. "The guys are excited to play, they know the challenge. They are excited to actually have that challenge for the first time." Twenty-five teams from the O-K Conference will take on that challenge in predistrict games this weekend. They are part of the 256 Michigan High School Athletic Association playoff qualifiers in eight divisions from across the state announced Sunday night. Holland (6-3) is the lone area team in for the first time. The Dutch kick off their postseason party at 7 p.m. Friday at Hackley Stadium. "We know Muskegon is a great team, and our guys are ready to give it their best," McManus said. "Hopefully, good things will happen." |

There were those in the Holland Community that wanted to do away with football altogether so this is a great story! They have come from a terrible team to a
decent competetive team in a few short years.

It definitely makes a positive argument for the switch in conferences for Muskegon and Holland that everybody was against at the time. It also helps that the
Holland head coach is a former John Shilito assistant.

BIGREDS89 wrote: The conference switch has been a great idea for football. I remember a couple years ago people said Muskegon couldn't compete in the OK Red, that they would end up going 5-4 or 4-5 and not make the playoffs. Now after 2 full seasons in the conference they have been conference champs in both of the years they were in the Red, sharing the title in 2007 and going undefeated this year in the Red. Speaking of Shilito, the Reds had trouble with the T at first and the game was 7-7 in the first quarter.
