Muskegon Public School officials announced Monday that the site of the MHSAA regional final game between the Muskegon Big Reds and Lowell Red Arrows has been changed from Muskegon High to Gene Rothi Field Memorial Field at Grand Haven High School's Buccaneer Stadium. The game time is the same, 1 p.m. on Saturday. The ticket demand for the regional championship has been tremendous, the school's release said. Hackley Stadium's seating capacity would also prohibit many fans from attending. Parking issues and traffic congestion also were factors. Tickets will be sold on Thursday and Friday at the Hackley Stadium ticket office from 3:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. and again at Buccaneer Stadium on Saturday beginning at 10:30 a.m. All tickets are $5 and passes will not be accepted. For more information, please contact the Big Red Hotline by calling (231) 720-2800 and press 6. |

actually it was about how torn up the grass got against Hudsonville last saturday. As they sit Hackley seats slightly more, however GH has more room to add
temp bleachers. Parking would also be better at GH.

I think it was the condition of the field that warranted the move rather than the capacity or traffic flow. Grand Haven's stadium actually seats less than
Hackley.
I still think the turf benefits Muskegon's speed in the veer more than it does Lowell's passing game.
It's okay when you're respected, but when you're feared, that's when you've got the power.--Frank Lucas

Actually and you heard it here first. I think the turf might be more of a benefit to Lowell. I think Muskegon out of the pistol formation has a better
north/south running game out of the first 2 phases of the option. (dive/keep) than Lowell does who runs their veer from under center. What that means is that
Lowell depends on a change of direction from Nichol running the veer from under center and the bad grass would have slowed him down more than it would have
slowed down Elan Jr. With that being said Lowell does not have a pitch phase in their veer and Muskegon does and the turf will help us get to the pitch
phase when we want to (and we could'nt against Hudsy).
It will be interesting to see how it all plays out.

The advantage of the playing surface is debatable, but I feel equal for both teams. Better footing equals better blocking, better cutting, etc....
Although Lowell scored 35 on grass in poor conditions last week and Muskegon only managed 12. Maybe Hudsy is THAT much better than Cal? I dont know... Ealy forecast are calling for the weather to be about the same. High of 42 degrees with rain/snow mix. |

I wish this was a Saturday Night game! Then I might make the trek out there and watch some Wrestling at MCC during the day before going to the Game at night.
