For those that were at this game, can you please give a summary of what happened, and I do not mean just what happened at the end of the game. From what
I'm reading on MLive, I don't think I would believe what happened, even if I was there.

1:40 left on clock. SHS took a knee. LO had one time out and called it. Then after 2 more plays w/ 4th down and long, SHS let the time go to 12.1 seconds.
They punt the ball LO calls for a fair catch. (around 40 yard line of LO). LO QB throws a completion around the 30 yard line goes out of bounds. LO rushes
their field goal team on w/ 2 seconds left and Heath promptly nails a 49 yard field. As a LO fan it from sure victory up 35-7 to sure defeat 36-35 to victory.
Both teams never gave up. I'm numb. All I could say was OMG.

Made that great throw @ the end to get LO into field goal position and had a TD pass. Other then that he struggled. His timing just seemed off. Don't know if he realized he was in the regionals or just had off day. But his throw gave us a chance to win @ the end and that is all you can ask for. LO lives to play another and great game by both teams. |

Well, since I did see the field goal on TV, I guess it really did happen.

Can anyone defend taking the knee on first down? Or the third down play?

Boeing,
I was at the game, but unfortunately left in the 3rd Q after LO blocked a punt and scored to make it 35-7. SHS was unable to stop LO's running game all night and I figured the game was over. I felt the SHS with Fracassa/Mershman was able to have some success and might score. But, I never figured they would score 29 unasnwered points. I missed a great comeback. As for the LO QB, I wasn't impressed, but he's only a freshman. He's very slight--can't be over 150 lbs. He does have good quickiness and that helped him make a nice run in the first half. He also directed the offense very well. He seemed more mature than his years in that regard. It was in the passing game, I thought he fell short. It looked to me like his hand wasn't big enough to hold the ball. Thus, his passing motion looked more like a shotput than a pass. He completed a couple (while I was there) but he was off target for the most part. It sounded like the completion just before the field goal at the end of the game was huge. So, you have to give him credit for that. Because of his size, I didn't think he would be able to take much of a pounding. But, that didn't seem to be a problem. He had to get a lot of experience this year, so he can only get better. The biggest negative to me was his passing motion and that could be related to his size. I assume he will get bigger and perhaps his passing will improve. I'd say it's too soon to assess whether he becomes a great QB or not. I suspect that unless he grows a lot physically, he ends up being a good HS QB, but not a big D-1 stud. That's the answer to your question on the LO QB. The other QB is a different story. Fracassa is amazing. He has a rocket for an arm. One of the best pure passers I've seen this year. The only issue with him is size. Unlike Charette, Fracassa is built very solidly, but he's not very tall. He moves around very well to compensate for his lack of height. He ended up with great stats, and that was in spite of around five drops of perfect passes by his running backs. SHS also didn't have a very good running game. If they did, that would be a great team, since the passing game--particularly the Fracassa-Mershman combo- is one of the best I've seen this year. I'll be ansious to see where Fracassa plays on Saturday. I can't imagine he will be a big-time D-1 recruit given his size and today's preferences by the colleges. He will play somewhere though and have a lot of success, IMO. If he was 6'2-200-with that arm and quickness, he would be the top QB recruit in the state.
