MHSAA Football Stats

Does anyone know why Alex Andrus of Coopersville didn't sign with Ball State today since he was on my summer list of going there?

I guess on rivals he's still listed as committed, but unsigned list.

MHSAA Football Stats

Just for Searn either you love the MSU recruiting or you hate it. I've seen the Spartans as high as #14 and being as low as #35 proving that this is a very inexact science.

Based on the Maxpreps link, we could potentially have 67 players sign this year provided that Andrus signs with Ball State, Westendorp signs with North Dakota State (most websites aren't treating NDS as a D1 signing this year), and how one uncommitted Grand Ledge player ends up according to Maxpreps.

I'm sort of surprised that Peterson from Adrian didn't sign with a D1 team yet or I couldn't locate it.

MHSAA Football Stats

I just assumed that my list was accurate since one of my links said that CMU signed 13 Michigan high school football players and I had 13 players on my list already. Instead what happened to Rodney Woodland from OLSM not signing with CMU since I haven't seen him on multiple lists for CMU? At least the Coopersville (Andrus) player is listed as verballing but not signing on rivals.

I think the Spartan fans just need to enjoy the fact that they had a strong 2008 season and pulled a very good recruiting class for 09....

And not worry about whether it's better or worse than what they pulled in Ann Arbor. Programs like USC, Florida, Texas, Notre Dame, Michigan, Ohio State, etc. are always going to be able to recruit very good classes (unless they make a terrible coaching hire)

I've heard too much about trying to figure out who has the better class (Michigan or Michigan State) ... to me they both signed very good players that met their own needs.

I don't know how accurate it is. For example, one major miss is on Kenny Watkins from Brother Rice (Minnesota). If he misses him, who else has he missed.

I also wonder about Rodney Woodland. I haven't seen him anywhere. Is he still on track to sign with CMU, or has he changed his mind and looking elsewhere. I guess there could be an academic problem. Some players who haven't passed the ACT have not signed. Don't know about Woodland.

As for Brother Rice, I know Jareth Glanda has an offer from Penn. I think he's still looking elsewhere--waiting to see the fallout after signing day to see if any schooly's still exist for him. Penn not a bad fallback, although will cost him some money to go there.

I'm guessing Shaquille Marshall will be going the JUCO or Prep School route. Last I heard, he was considering a Prep School. John Miller was missing from the Friday Night Lights list. He signed with Northwood.

P.S. Now that I've read the whole list, there are too many missing signees to take the list seriously. It also seems to be heavilly-weighted toward the GLAC. Maybe it's just that a lot of good H.S. players in Michigan are GLAC-level players and don't get recruited by big-time schools. It shows the huge difference between high school football in Michigan and big time college football.

MHSAA Football Stats

This morning I did some research on Rodney Woodland. I saw on a ESPN link that he decommitted to CMU on January 28th. I was wondering what school offered him that late in order for him to decommit that late in the process or did the Chippewas take back the scholarship so they could sign A. J. Westendorp? I haven't been able to locate that he signed anywhere so that leaves a ton of questions out there.

The website that prepseer has the link for is missing quite a few players such as Dillard from Adrian. I only do the D1A players that actually sign on the dotted line while the link has some D2 players that did sign.

There was a nice article on the Free Press about the Menominee player getting his scholarship to Wisconsin. A couple of Wisconsin high school football teams head coaches told the Wisconsin staff about Pedersen.

Some of the missing players are listed under their home town, not location of school. (on Friday night lights site). E.G. Tim Keith is listed under West Bloomfield, but the bio lists him as a Southfield player. Lentz is listed under Oxford, but is from Lake Orion H.S.

Didn't see Hudsonville QB anywhere. (can't remember his name). Along with Jonker, was supposed to be Div. 1. I saw Jonker at a GLAC school. No word on QB.

Didn't see Khaled Mheissan (CC) anywhere. I thought he was CC's top D-1 prospect.

Another assumed D-1 prospect missing in action was OLSM's Christian Brandt. Any word on him?

Didn't see anyone from DLS. Best players (twins) are headed to play baseball. Didn't any of those big linemen/linebackers land somewhere?

Mheisen got offers from: Ohio, Southern Illinois, Eastern Michigan, and preferred walk on from Michigan. He got a week extension to make his choice, because apparently he was really torn between walking on @ UM, and another scholarship offer. Maybe he will end up with some help, because UM lost two D-tackles on signing day??

I really think Teric will do good things at Michigan. Although speed isn't everything, it's a big deal in this system and he had the fastest 40 time of anyone at the US Army AA Camp.

A post on M-Live reports that Woodland had academic difficulties and that forced his de-commit (read CMU pulled its offer) from Central Michigan. He hasn't signed anywhere. Look for him to go the JUCO route.

Prepseer I am with you. These signing day things are getting out of hand, and we can thank ESPN for that. Granted receiving an athletic scholarship for four years is great for the individual, Something that should not be downplayed but, I don't see a point for the press conferences and all the hoopla in schools when a quarter of these players won't play much. I guess some people try to use it as a motivating tool for others to get to signing day. But i really don't care about the #1 ranked LB recruit in the country, or the #4 qb out of california, I wanna see results on the field four years down the road.

Some people haven't been around the block enough. Do you know how many people were in attendance when Magic Johnson declared for the Spartans for men's basketball? Plus the local football players usually had quite a few local fans at their signing day back in the old days as well. So it's just not a new thing despite all the fuss. Sure there is more information about the players then ever before, but that's only because the internet was invented. Just like HSSportsGuru and I can track down those non AP scores much easier than before and how the out of state opponents are doing that particular year as well. So that is a good thing that the internet was invented. The players need to realize that things go on the internet nowadays so they should be more sure of their college of choice before making it public to anyone. They could do without the hat fuss, but that brings who was in real contention for their services though.

It appears that there might not be any high school football stats this year as I am being limited to one w word editor post per day. The following is to see how a spreadsheet would appear in bbcode.

I would consider trying Firefox ....
I have not experienced any of the many issues that you have over the past few months ...in fact, the forum has worked perfectly for me aside from those few weeks where the magician kept popping up.... that's the only solution I can think of at this point.
I switched to firefox back around 2003 and I have not looked back. .... faster, safer, better than Internet Explorer.
