I am leaning towards Grand Blanc as my soft #3. ...
Hartland and Lakeland I'm not convinced on as I believe both were hit hard by graduation. |

I guess the darkhorse is really John Glenn, they could have won 6 games this year but a coaching change and a young OL contributed to early losses but rebounded with a huge win over Canton. |

Hartland's QB is gone ...
John Glenn might turn into a great darkhorse pick. |

Im unaware on how Hartland's JV was so I cant say anything about their incoming talent, but if their incoming Seniors started at skill positions last
season and did well than Hartland should make the playoffs.
John Glenn will be good, they have a good core of athletes and shouldnt stumble against Mott and Pickney again. If Glenn goes 7-2 I wouldnt be surprised. The coach is now squared away and has everything set there should be no excuses for John Glenn not making the playoffs in 09. Another point id like to make is the questionmark team is without a doubt Franklin, they have the talent to win the division, they had the talent to win it last year but injuries always seem to plague them. Remember they were 5-4 in 07 but beat Mega Red co champs Monroe who were 8-1, than beat a solid Fordson team in the playoffs in the district finals. Really if Churchill goes 5-4 they should get in due to playing the toughest schedule out of anyone in the KLAA South or maybe in the entire conference as a whole. |

Hartland's freshman and JV each won 5 games ....
Based on a preseason preview Hartland started 17 juniors in 2007 ... not sure exactly how many seniors starting that translated to in 2008. |

I think you have to look at Howell as being a top team. What they did last year with a new coach and a lot of underclassmen playing, they should be the team in the KLAA West this year. They return eight starters on offense including four linemen. Howell will be tuff this year and we are glad that Grand Blanc is in the league as well |

I think all teams have their injury problems. Franklin might have been a little more apparent the last 2 years because their promising FB/LB (Fortin) was hurt both his JR and SR years. Many SR starters are returning and the O/D line will have good size. Their running game will be hard to stop, however, the biggest question will be if there will be any passing game with no returning experienced receiver's or quarterback coming back from last year. |

Grand Blanc #5. ???? Grand Blanc should score a lot of points ...and could have the best QB/WR duo in the league .... I guess it just depends if they can stop someone. ... I'd surely consider Howell a better team than Grand Blanc in 2008 ... so if Howell is returning a lot of guys, I'd have to pick them over Grand Blanc in the beginning. Maybe Novi? Someone is going to have to emerge in the North? right? |

Novi is good, they are usually a consistent team year in and year out. If all the cards are right Franklin should be the number five team on your list Searn.
John Glenn should make some noise too.

i think that the reason novi is always good is because they have one of the top coaches in the state. with that in mind, even with a "down" year
talent-wise, i think you have to always look at them as a possible contender.

There are very few exceptions but not many, if you dont have the talent your not going to win. But Novi has had the talent recently and good coaching so thats why they've been winning. |

i'm sorry i didn't make myself clear. i meant that even if they have average talent, (down compared to recent years), they are usually a contender.

Howell returns all of its defensive line except nose. 2 of the 4 linebackers return with a junior who played in the playoffs at linebacker. 2 of the starters
at db return. All in all the defense returns a lot of players that played throughout the season. The junior linebacker, Dobson, is one to watch as well. Howell
should be solid on both sides of the line and with Lyndberg, Bouvee and Riffle returning in the skill positions Howell will be good on offense as well.

Grand Blanc will roll the west most likely. Hartland likely wont be in the tops. The talent is lacking and they might be losing their standout WR
underclassmen. One starter from last year is left after that. The JV squad was average. I played there in 08.

novi should do well again as long as it can fill their skill positions, they lost their qb, rb, te, and all wrs that got playing time but they always seem to
have good athletes going through the system that they can plug in at these positions

John Glenn did have the best defense in the KLAA last year........now all they need is offense............im assuming that the 5th spot has to go to Novi but i
do have reservations about the selection of them

How can you lump JG in with the rest of the best in the KLAA? They got beat by a weak SL team by 2 TD's at the varsity level, and the JV team got routed
by SL.
They cant be put into the top ten IMO let alone the top 5. |

They also beat canton and only lost to franklin by a point dude....good with the bad ........and i saw SL play....they were way better than their record...that
is why jg would be a good dark horse pick but said Novi.....and again....BEST DEFENSE IN KLAA, not division, but KLAA. im just going by the facts and those are
it.

John Glen.... | #20 | ||
|
is a very talented team and they have a new coaching staff and I think they are on the road to greatness.
After Glenn played Franklin, their coaching staff was really fired up after the game (I witnessed it walking back to our car) and they are young and hungry. Of course I will still put Franklin in the top five but Glen is going to be a major threat to any team in the KLAA. Dante Fortin |
