Give the people what they want! I would love to see a Gardner vs. Bolden matchup! I personally think Bolden is a better player, but the money is on Inkster to
win. Coach Carter must know something that we all don't, to put together a schedule like that. I will be amazed if they make the playoffs. I think they
have the skill position players, but I am not sure that they have the horses in the trenches to hold up to that sort of schedule.

That's a good point Diesel, about Carter knowing something we don't know. There is no way he would schedule three Ohio powerhouses unless he knew that
he was going to be loaded. If you look at last year's team, he lost quite a bit. Of course, he has Gardner back. There has been speculation in this
thread about Inkster having skill position players, but not much in the trenches. Didn't they have a young line last year? They could be very strong in
the trenches.
I think it all comes down to the transfers and Carter has kept a tight lid on the new kids already at Inkster. All I've heard is about a couple good Oak Park players who have transferred. With the planned Chadsey closing, there could be some more players moving to Inkster, although I'm not susre there was enough talent at Chadsey to have much of an impact at Inkster. I'm waiting for more information on the transfers before deciding where to rank Inkster in the pre-season. I think it's possible that they will be a top five team and might even be number one on some lists. It looks like they will be a Division 2 school for the playoffs, if they make the playoffs. If Inkster wins one or two of the Ohio games, look out. They might be unstoppable in the Michigan playoffs. |

I agree with diesel, I don't think Carter has lost his mind with the scheduling. He obviously knows something we do not in scheduling so many Ohio teams.
Right now, I see Inkster going 1 for 3 in Ohio. They can beat whoever is weaker between St. Ed and St. Ignatius, but I don't see them winning in
Steubenville. That's a heck of a long ride to Steubenville and a very tough place to play. On top of all that, the Big Red almost never lose at home and of
course, you have the Ohio officiating wildcard.
Inkster should run the table on their Michigan opponents, get to 5 wins on the 8 game schedule, and then make some serious noise in the playoffs. "The common man revels in HAVING WON. The champion finds his satisfaction in WINNING." - F.H. Yost

Prepseer, Inkster brings back 4 of 5 starting lineman...2 of them are D1 prospects..Their right tackle is a sophomore who is already being looked at by big D1
schools from across the country..

One out three looks possible, but I think Stubenville is the most winnable, with St. Eds next. I don't see Inkster beating Iggy. It's also very
possible that Inkster goes 0-3 in Ohio, but still makes some noise in the Div. 2 playoffs.

In all honesty I think Carter wanted to put together a more difficult scheduled than Inkster faced in the MEGA the past few years ... but I also believe the
schedule is as tough as it is more out of necessity than desire.

I want to make a correction from a post above I posted....The Sophmore stud is the Left Tackle..He is the D1 prospect that is already getting looked at by the
big boys....As well as the Left tackle who is a D1 prospect

Question, how do POP work for out-of-state teams?
For instance, if Inkster ends up at 5-4 and loses to all three Ohio teams, does that still get them one of the highest ranked 5-4 POP numbers to get in? Assuming they get nine games, of course. Grand Valley State - NATIONAL CHAMPS AGAIN! ('02 '03 '05 '06 baby!) ![]() |

They take the out of state schools enrollment and put that # into Michigan terms (A,B,C,D) and awards points as usual. If the other state plays more than 9 regular season games I believe they only count the school's first 9 games for bonus points. |

Question, how do POP work for out-of-state teams? I don't envision Inkster making the playoffs with a 5 - 4 won loss record unless there is some improvement in some in state teams won loss record happen. Bay City Central, East Kentwood, and Highland Park all missed the playoffs last year. Even if Muskegon CC goes 8 - 1 (losing only to Inkster) that is equivalent to playing a 2 - 7 Class A team in the CPA formula. I do believe that Muskegon CC has other tough games on the schedule and if they lose that equivalency to Class A will go even lower. Searn and prepseer are right above in how the out of state CPA works above. The MHSAA gathers the out of state SEN on the same day that they gather the MHSAA SEN. Then, everything is based classwise on how it turned out for MHSAA schools. |

Inkster Record | #112 | ||

I agree it will be difficult for Inkster to get in the playoffs at 5-4 (assuming that they get a 9th game). If they run the table in Michigan with their
current 8 game schedule, they will finish at 5-3 and will automatically qualify. That could be why Carter is balking at scheduling OLSM in Week 3. If they
beat one of the Ohio teams, they could schedule a tough Week 3 game, lose it, and still get in at 6-3.

TOMMYZ wrote:Tommyz, I assume you are referring to Jaubar Jackson (6'5" 270) and Sterlin Griffin ( 6' 3" 290) as the D 1 prospects. They are listed in Rivals, but with no stars. As yet to be rated prospects in Rivals, I'm not sure that qualifies them as Div. 1 studs. They are big, but they would already be highly-rated if they were being highly-recruited. Do you have any inside information on these guys? Is the Soph. Div. 1 player you refer to Marquise Walker (6' 3" 250) ? Same situation (no rating), but I don't think Sophs who haven't started or played yet would be rated anyway. Are you assuming that he is a Div 1 stud because he is big for his age, or, agiain, do you have any specific inside info? There are a lot of big lineman playing in the PSL, but only a handful get recruited. I do recall that Inkser had a young line last year, and I'm sure they will be a lot better in that area in '09, regardless of whether they have D-1 recruits there. I think the key for Inkster will be the quality of the receivers. That will allow Gardner to shine (passing and running). The line needs to be just good enough to provide some pass protection. They don't need to be top level recruits, although that can't hurt. |

Here's the math behind my statement:
My assumption will be that all teams will play 9 games for simplication purposes. 62.550 = average last 5 - 4 team in the Class A at large teams 62.550 * 9 = 562.95 points needed to be an average last 5 - 4 team in to make the playoffs 80 + 80 + 64 + 32 = 256 points = wins over Bay City Central, East Kentwood, Highland Park, and Muskegon CC 2 + 2 + 5 + 8 = 17 victories * 8 points per victory = 136 points 8 + 8 + 8 = 24 points = losses to Centreville, St. Edward, and St. Iggy = assumption that all teams will win the rest of their games subtotal = 416 needed for other 2 games = 562.95 - 416 = 146.95 max points in other games total = 80 + 64 + 8 = 152 So I guess that Inkster could potentially make it in as a 5 - 4 team, but they will have to beat a Class A team with at least 8 wins if the other numbers hold up. 152 + 416 = 568/9 = 63.111 This is less than what was required though in 2008, 2007, and 2006. |

Inkster Players | #116 | ||

How about some names. As a close follower of the Inkster program, could you identify these offensive linemen who are being recruited. When you referred to the SOPH., I assumed that you were talking about a SOPH. to be next year. The only one I can find was Marquise Wallace. Did he start last year as a Freshman? Or, are you talking about a current Soph. and Junior to be. I think Inkster did have some Sophs. that started last year. I couldn't find any linemen in Rivals from the Class of 2011. I'm just trying to identify some of these players for my pre-season preview. As a close follower of Inkster, you should be aware of the transfers. How about some names. I know there are a couple players from Oak Park and two from Truman. Any others of note? |

Not only did Inkster put together a monster schedule, they are even participating in the F.H. Harrison scrimmage with Brother Rice. I'm looking forward to

Reading an article on MichiganPreps.com about the top 11 MI players at the Midwest Elite Combine ....
Looks like Inkster is doing a fine job reloading at some skill positions to help Gardner. Gardner + 2 RBs + 1 RB = 4 of the top 11 players from MI that participated.... |

Should be interesting.... |
