It'll be a low scoring game, but Novi's defense is superior to any unit out there. Novi 17-10

This weather makes anything possible at this point. All things being equal, Novi would smoke Milford.

I have to believe the weather's going to hamper both offenses tonight. There's more showers expected. That being said, Novi has got a very good
defense. If this turns into a sloppy night, expect Novi to pull it out, but it'll be closer than it should be. Novi, 13 - Milford, 6

Novi's defense is looking good and i have a good feeling they'll win in a close, defense game. 13-10 is the
score I'll predict. Go Wildcats!

WeaponX, Novi's offense is questionable with no clear cut QB. They likely won't smoke decent teams like Milford.
But yeah, I expect Novi to win this game. If Milford wins, I'd be surprised, but I wouldn't be shocked. Novi's offense will get it's feet wet and get much better as the season improves. The defense will have to carry this team early on. |

Novi shot itself in the foot and gave this game away. Too many penalites and the kickoff return for a TD was a killer.
Novi dominated the game statistically in every facet, except the scoreboard. But the team will learn and get better, they're young but talented. |

Novi's quarterback play was terrible. Milford will impress alot of people this year.

Novi had a couple of long passes. But yeah the offense wasn't pretty. Novi's defense looked pretty good though.

Got a little scary when Novi lined up to kick the field goal..

noviwildcats wrote: actually i beg to differ with you. the only time that novi could move the ball effectively was when they threw deep which wasnt very often because none of their qbs are that good. other than that milfords HUGE offensive and defensive line pushed novi all over the place. Milford ran all over them all night long. I will admit that all of the penalties that novi had did not help, but in no way did they dominate this game in any aspect. at the end of the game milford was worn out, they only have like 30 kids on the team compared to the 80 that it looked like novi had. but they came up big when they had to with the field goal block with :18 left. IMO neither team is very good, but Milford came to play and novi looked like it was just trying to survive. |

klaacoach, I believe if you take a look at the stats novi dominated on both sides of the ball. stastistically speaking, anyways. Novi let it slip away because
penalties killed their drives. Props to Milford though, they did well.

they may have held the upperhand in the stats dept. i havent seen any stats for both teams yet.
I honestly feel that if it wasnt for the rain, milford would have doubled novi up. their passing game is good, and I am sorry, but i dont think that any of Novi's qb's are very good throwers. yes they can throw deep, they showed that in the few passes they had, but it isnt the deep routes that keep you in games. it will be interesting to see both teams in action this week. Novi vs. walled lake central, and Milford Vs. South Lyon. my only fear for milford is i felt their offense was very predictable. there are only so many plays you can run out of the pistol and still be effective. but with their passing game it should keep most teams on their toes. |

From what I heard Milford's quarterback can throw the ball.

Just like pitching is the key to winning in little league baseball, so too is size the key to winning in high school football. A bigger team will usually beat
a smaller team by running the ball, eating up the clock and controlling the game. This point was very evident in Walled Lake Central's victory over South
Lyon last friday. If Novi is indeed undersized this year - as compared to the previous few years - they are in for a real battle this thursday. WLC is much
bigger than last year.

Novi is undersized every year. This year is no different. Novi wins with speed and strong fundamentals. I fully expect Novi to wax WLC this week to the tune of
34-13 or something in that range. And yes, Rydzewski is a mediocre passer but with his mobility he's got the QB job locked up.

yes, he can run, but when you need to throw the ball i dont think i would have faith in his ability to do that.
as far as WLC vs South Lyon. South Lyon played very poorly that game, and that is not an excuse, just an observation. to be competitive in D1 you need to be able to 4 things well; pass, run, block and tackle. they didnt do any of those things very well hence the shutout by WLC. yes a bigger team will usually beat a smaller team, but there are alot of small teams out there that are competitive with the bigger teams. Novi is a great example of that. their o-line isnt usually 260 across like alot of other teams (milford, CC, Stevenson just to name a few) but they are well coached and usually very fast. usually they are very competitive, but i dont think they have the depth this year talent wise (like in years past) to make up for the lack of size. without that depth they need to rely on their speed, and i dont think they are as fast as the teams in the last few years either. but it is only going into week 2 so it is really hard to say how they will be. you cant judge every team by the first week, but it does give us a glimpse. |
