I'm speaking of Linden. I will admit I know nothing about this school. I can't recall anyone ever discussing them or their players and yet they have
made the playoffs every year since 2002, while playing a Class A schedule. I've never even seen any Mlive trolls touting the school. Anybody have any
insight??

I've had Linden ranked in the top 5 of D3 all season.
They basically returned their entire Offense, including QB Cody Marks, who I believe is starting his third year on Varsity. Dont know what his stats are this year but he threw for over 2,000 and ran for over 600 last year (accounted for just under 3,000 yards). Linden is averaging 43.6 points a game of offense, but the last three weeks the competition hasnt been that great. They have Lapeer West coming up in week 7 and that might be a good test. |

That's because they have one playoff win since 1975. So they aren't worthy to consider for top teams yet. To put them 5th best in D3 is too high for
me.

Linden has been a very good program (in their area/conference) for a while now ... just not on a statewide/playoff level which is why they often get
overlooked.... and I don't disagree with overlooking them to date.
The unfortunate truth is the Flint Metro is one of the weaker "A" leagues around ... and they don't play anyone outside the conference. |

I was thinking that there are other schools that have had a lot of wins but not much playoff success in the past 7-8 years, yet we discuss them..........why
not Linden? But, in looking at their history in total, and in the lack of their league's success, I guess the snub is justified. In fact, the more I think
about it, since no one even from their school, conference, or general area is interested in promoting them, why should anyone else??

Can you be more specific since you don't bring up the other schools? I think that most schools that we discuss on here have double digit playoff wins.
There are a couple of exceptions except I don't really bring them up.
I have with Highland Park this year since they've played a tough schedule so far and have been competitive in games.

Well, since you brought it up, here's an example: The combined record of Linden from 2002 to the present is 61-15. The combined record for Adrian over the
same time frame is 56-21. Linden has one playoff win and Adrian 3 but neither team has made it out of districts in that time frame. Yet, the amount of
discussion of Adrian far exceeds that of Linden - on this board, and probably everywhere, except the local Linden paper.
I'm not trying to pick on you MrNCAA but you asked and that is one example of what I was thinking. Here's another one. I have seen more than a couple of references, in one form or another, ....(good game, bad game, big upcoming game, whatever) to Southfield over the same time frame and yet their record is a measly 40-33 with only one successful playoff year. Most of us know a little, or maybe even a lot, about Southfield. And yet, Linden???? nothing. As I said, I understand now, but you wanted examples........

They wear ugly singlets in wreslting and they have a great wrestling coach. They are the Eagles and wear Red and White.
Football related.... No clue.

Not sure ...
Teams that seem to get a lot of talk. A. Win or Challenge for State Titles. B. Big name players yearly C. Big name coach D. Fans talk a lot of smack on message boards. E. Schools that reloads yearly with transfers and opponents rip them for it. Apparently Linden does not qualify for any of the above. |

Wow, so you are really comparing a team with a playoff record of 11 - 12 to a team having a 1 - 11 playoff record. The Maples have made 3 decent playoff
runs (back to back semis plus a quarterfinal appearance). I will take the 11 - 12 playoff record all the time then. A ton of that won loss record that Adrian
plays is against schools way BIGGER than itself (Pi Hi was the biggest school in the state for decades plus another rivalry game against Monroe). Plus the
Freep and News sometimes list the Maples in their ratings. Linden doesn't play real big schools. Plus I don't hype Southfield, but they did have a
playoff run last year. That's why they get more pub on here. I did call out Southfield one year for the mdead 7 on 7 result when they got overhyped.
It's no secret that I like teams that won a ton of playoff games before. Plus the message boards is all about having fans write about any topic that they
deem fit within reason.
Basically do I have to name the schools that joined the Flint Metro league when they couldn't win elsewhere? |

Plus I should point out that Adrian was in the top 96 - 107 playoff team win wise when I did the stats for 2008. Linden is way down there - 376 - 457. No
wonder why Linden don't get mentioned much on here since they are in the bottom half of the playoff wins list. Plus other than Oxford and Lapeer West no
other team in the league has over 2 playoff wins.

that's what I was doing. I don't know what you are rambling about. Do you have anything more to add concerning Linden?? You can talk about Highland
Park, Adrian, Southfield, or the man in the moon for all I care until your blue in the face and for whatever reason you want. I just wondered why Linden, a
pretty decent program of late, generated so little discussion. As usual on Searn's board, I got a few lucid answers........ even one from you, before it
degenerated.
