You are assuming that they don't put in reserves. I don't know anything about the current Mendon team, other than the numbers; I merely started this thread to get some discussion, and I'm glad I did because I like the stats that people are digging up about past teams. That being said, for all I know, Mendon puts in reserves and they are just so deep that their reserves shut out everyone else's reserves. If that is the case, than I think it is as impressive as it looks.

As for teams doing this prior to the current playoff system, I say it is difficult to compare. Before the 6 wins and in format we have now, there was an incentive to run up the scores. If Mendon is honestly doing this, without leaving starters in for the entire game, then it is more impressive than the old schools doing this out of motivation to make the playoffs under the old regime.

PS - how many kids are on the Mendon team? I would assume quite a few, but don't know for sure. They are a small school. My point being that they might not have the numbers to dip past a second string.

Before the current playoff system, Marysville had a season under Walt Braun in which they went 9-0 (1983). They outscored their opponents 435-20 and were only scored on 3 times. Only one game did they score fewer than 40 points, and in no game were they scored on more than once. They didn't make the playoffs that year.

Makes it hard to compare the teams from pre-current playoff format years.

EDIT: and I don't think most on this board realize how difficult it is for a Marine City guy to throw a Marysville team into this discussion, but I just think it is warranted.
