Sounds like it was a classic.
It also seems like Pav's observation in another thread was spot on. Anyway, your alma mater gets a rematch with CC at Ford Field. I would be shocked if that game is not a lot closer than the CC 27-0 blowout at Boys Bowl. |

Even though I would think OLSM has a good shot getting into the playoffs as a 4-4 team since they area class B and their 4 wins will be against class A
opposition .... I have to think they'll be extra hungry at Ford Field and not want to take a chance on the numbers.
Then again ... with all the "guru's" these days ... I'm betting we'll know one way or the other whether the Eaglets will need a 5th win or not by the time they suit up at Ford Field. |

dallas, I was mistaken.
Do you have any thoughts on the CC OLSM rematch in two weeks? |

is it a guaranteed match-up?
well, if it is, and i'm only doing this right now because i don't want to study, but i think we might see a closer game. from all accounts, the last game was closer than the score appeared, which is weird to say in a 27-0 game. i guess people are suggesting it was more like 2 possession game. but that being the case, i think there are many ways this game can go. the way i think it will go, if history has any say in the matter, i think it will be much closer, with maybe a olsm victory. playing a team again is an advantage to the losing team. playing a team a third time, EXTREME advantage to the losing team, but i won't go there haha. but the reason i think olsm might be able to pull this game off is because after allegedly playing well against CC, and then being able to watch film of how DLS almost beat CC, olsm now has a better idea of CC's weaknesses, which honestly, i don't know what they are. and also, we have seen quite a bit of 2 teams playing each other regular season, and then the losing team beats the winning team later in the season, whether it's prep bowl or playoffs. wasn't it a couple years ago olsm smoked rice in the regular season and then got ran on by rice in the prep bowl? weird things happen. i think a very huge factor in this game is that regardless of what happens this week against davison, olsm will be fighting for a playoff spot. on the other hand, CC will be looking ahead to the playoffs. i'm not saying CC won't be motivated, but i think olsm will have more motivation in this game. the prep bowl can be tricky. sure, everyone wants to win it, but there is always a certain part of your brain that is looking ahead to week one of the playoffs, and it can be distracting. sometimes you have to have other factors to help motivate. for example, 2005 prep bowl, we came out like a bat out of hell and beat rice by 13, and just dominated the game all around. we wanted to prove how much of a coward fracassa was, and we made a statement that game. yes, we lost to them in the playoffs, but in the wake of all that BS started by fracassa, that game was huge and meant so much to us, and it showd by how tired we were the following week, only beating walled lake central by 9. but i digress. so olsm i think will come out with more fight, IMO. and with a playoff spot on the line, i think OLSM delivers. 21-14. |

OLSM has some big boys up front, and some very fast linebackers. It will be tough to beat them without pounding the ball up the middle. They are much to quick
to run to the outside. That is where Niko was huge in the first game. He really did make a big difference in that game. On the other hand OLSM could not move
the ball at all. This gets tough for a coach, because if I am Mach, unless Niko P is 100% you sit him out! At this point a State Championship is your #1 goal.
You just have to hope that you can get enough production out of Capatina and others to win the game. My prediction is Niko P. doesn't play and the score is
14-7 CC. OLSM gets one huge play, but is held in check for the majority of the game. D wins championships.

to be honest, IMO, I thought that OLSM was completely dominated in that game....if not for a horrible interception thrown by the CC QB in the first quarter as
CC was threatening to score- there might have been a running clock in the 3rd quarter... I don't think OLSM crossed the 50 until early in the 4th
quarter... additionally, #8 from OLSM- his outstanding play on D kept CC from scoring 40+ in that game
IMO, there's a gap between CC and the rest of the division.... I excpect more of the same when the 2 teams play again |
