In Division 1, I firmly believe that Grand Blanc will go deep into the playoffs. They are very talented, particularly on offense. Grand Blanc defeated a number of playoff teams during the regular season (Northville; Brighton; Howell; Walled Lake Central). It doesn't seem like the local press gives them much of a chance to go past Regionals. I disagree.
Other Division 1 playoff KLAA schools include Canton, Stevenson, Plymouth, and Northville. Stevenson has been on a roll as of late. Canton's only blemish was a loss to Stevenson. I think both teams will advance past the first game, maybe the second game too. Plymouth and Northville both have uphill battles. If either team wins their first games it will be considered an upset.
Division 2 - Brother Rice at Walled Lake Central. I don't know if getting bumped in the first round of the playoffs after going 8-1 will ruin the season. But clearly, if the Vikings lose, all the criticisms of playing a weak schedule and being overrated will come to the forefront. WLC will have to play much better than it did in its last big game against Grand Blanc. That said, Brother Rice is no Grand Blanc. Still, Brother Rice carries a kind of Notre Dame-like mystique in the metro Detroit area. The Warriors always have NCAA Div 1 players on their roster (I didn't use the word "recruit"). They play a very tough schedule (CC; OLSM; etc). The Brother Rice 5-4 record is deceiving.
Whoever wins the Brother Rice-WLC game will end up playing Rochester Adams. And it just gets rougher from there.
Grand Blanc will be the KLAA representative in the deep part of the playoffs. Maybe even Ford Field.
