Some multi-divisional conferences (OK, KLAA, WWAC) have the same alignment for all major sports. That would save schools and their fans from mass confusion if the MAC had the same alignment for all major sports.

If the divisions were done strictly by enrollment for ALL sports, Romeo would be in the White. Roseville is the fifth largest school by enrollment in the MAC
while Romeo is the ninth largest (LCN and Anchor Bay are larger than Romeo as well).

It's an interesting theory, with enrollment being the only factor and uniform league alignment across the board for all sports, but it isn't going to
happen most likely. The MAC AD's seem pretty resistant to drastic changes, I'm just happy the Red teams can get some non league games starting next
year.

Im not sure how the whole thing shakes out, but I have it on pretty good authority that L'Anse Creuse goes back to the Blue, Clintondale drops to the
Silver, Fraser drops to the Gold and Madison is moved up to the Gold. That makes the Gold look like this:
East Detroit WW Tower Fraser St. Clair Marine City Madison That isn't a bad division...for the Class B teams. I like the Marine City v. Madison aspect, assuming both programs can replicate (or come close) to what they did in 2009. I don't know what Madison returns or brings in, but it would be nice to see two teams who can make a run in the playoffs from the same lower MAC division. |
