Lowell will not be able to run the ball effectively against Muskegon Friday night. The Big Red's defense directed by Shane Fairfield will once again send
7-8 players hell-bent every play and stuff the Red Arrows #1 option, the running game. Athletically, Lowell has taken a step back from last year losing
Nichols and Boss offensively. I know, I know - you'll say, "what does last year have to do with it. " You'll say, "Muskegon lost
Hannett, Banks," etc. However what many won't consider again is the speed of Muskegon's defense, the pressure of Muskegon's defense and the
fact that the Big Reds have no fear of Lowell's offense. Consider last year, even with the incredible ability Boss possessed, Muskegon still covered him
man to man. Boss beat Muskegon defender's repeatedly and had a statistically good game but Nichols was also sacked, pressured and rushed into turnovers
which led to Musky points.

Muskegon's weakness this year; special teams and coaching. Coaching, we can live with - you don't replace T.A. Koziak is a quality coach but it will take him a couple years to learn to adjust mid-game - you don't learn that over night. Special teams? God only knows what might happen. Is Lowell good, hell yeah. Can they beat Muskegon, hell yeah. But I think we'll find arond 10:00 Friday night that if Lowell wins - it may be a result of Muskegon's self-destruct button which is always only a heartbeat away.
