As long as RR is still head coach in A2, I think that the MHSAA will be fine. After all he didn't put down the players hours on sheets as required by the
university to document how many real hours that the players really practiced in case the university got into a jam that they are currently in (it should have
been a NCAA rule, but it wasn't according to what I read online).
Plus it will be only the odd numbered divisions that will have the conflict especially D1 in particular since that game starts at 1pm. The D1 fans will
still want to see their team in action.

Not sure it will have a ton of impact, especially given the current state of the rivalry. And, like Mr. NCAA points out, the D1 game will face the most impact.
You could still watch the game and make it back to the other games, if you wish.

Anyone interested in high school football will be at Ford Field. You can always DVR the Michigan-Ohio State game. Maybe if the game were at Michigan, some
people would go to Ann Arbor and DVR the H.S. game.
You'll see a big drop-off in interest in the Michigan-Ohio State game this year. Next year, with a new coach, it will be a re-building year and another bad one without a bowl. By the time the Mich.-OSU game rolls around, there won't be much intererst left. |

BigRed89, hasn't RR set all sorts of UM negative reocords or it has been a long time since they've done some of the numbers that he's putting up?
Don't forget that RR supporters on here was predicting a bowl game this year for the Wolverines based on his turnarounds at other places LOL!!!!
I agree with prepseer in that people can always tivo, dvd, or vcr the Ohio State vs. Michigan game. There are several TBD replays on different channels so there is always a possibility that you can watch the replay as well.

I'm not concernced with all the negative bs. In all honesty could anbody have been more successful putting up with the daily BS that Rrod has had to. I
have been a fan of Rrod since his days at Tulane and I will continue to be a fan of his no matter what the end result is for him at U of M. I still say the
bottom line all the hate he gets is because people are afraid of the brand of football he brings with him. You cannot deny what he had built at WVU and you
cannot deny his teams beating teams like Georgia and Oklahoma in bowl games which is what he will have at U of M as long as he gets the chance.

Angel Eyes has another positve article for BigRed89 and all other UM supporters:
http://www.detnews.com/article/20091119/SPORTS0201/911190411/Bo-s-triumph-in-1969-should-inspire-2009-Wolverines However, how stupid does she think that we are though? Here is some counterpoints to her article: 1. Bo was in his first season while RR is in his second season. So there is mistake #1. 2. The 1969 team was 7 - 2 heading into the game according to one of my all time results websites while this years version has a losing record going into the rivalry game. 3. Plus the 1969 actually had a chance to go to the Rose Bowl while this one looks like it will finish in last place in the Big 10. Another nice analogy on her part right there. So there are huge differences between the two teams. Just for BigRed89, UM beat Florida in a bowl game before RR became head coach as well.

I think the timing of the article has more to do with it being the 40 year anniversary of the 69 game than the similarities of the two scenarios.

Why doesn't the article headline say the 40th anniversary of Buckeye upset instead of saying that it should inspire the Wolverines since there are a ton of
differences between the two years? One of UM's 1969 losses before the game came to a nationally ranked Missouri Tiger team plus Bo lost the first Spartan
game as well. In addition this years Buckeyes team isn't #1 in the polls either as I do believe that they were heading into the 1969 game. So just too
many differences to put out a misleading headline.

I don't think the MHSAA will lose the die-hards ... but I believe a lot of casual fans will choose the UM/OSU game instead of watching the MHSAA games ...
Maybe not if it was the 2009 version of U of M involved ... but if UM can get back to where they were a few years back.... could be tough choice for many. .... If RR get's 4 years ... I believe he will be successful at Michigan. If he doesn't get 3-4 years .... I think it will be because of off the field issues, not Wins and Losses. |

Searn, I do believe that UM has to return to prominence before the MHSAA loses fans over this. One of the ESPN guys said that both Charlie Weiss and RR are
gone after the season is completed the other day according to his booster sources. Plus the UM president almost gave RR the kiss of death by coming out with a
statement since quite frequently coaches are fired under similar circimstances (it's not 100% true though). Anyways, I hope that RR can hang on. It
didn't help RR's case when he took so long to fill out those required university player hours forms (filled in bogusly recently in my opinion since the
monthly player hours forms should be filled out daily and turned in monthly if that is how the university wants it).

Mr NCAA wrote:Are you kidding me?? A U of M win over Florida in a NON bcs bowl where Florida was not very motivated and U of M was over the top with motivation because of LLLLLLoyds last game and over the top with NFL talent (how many players were drafted off of that Michigan team???) Ranks the same in your mind as WVU beating Georgia in a BCS game where they were the under dogs and did not have as much talent as Georgia or WVU beating Oklahoma again in a BCS bowl game and again not being as talented as the team they were playing overall. (side note that 3-3-5 did not get pushed around by that Oklahoma power running game either like people say it would in the big 10). If you really believe that I can't help you. Oh yeah back to the topic of the thread so we don't totally hijack
it. If given the choice I am going to the mhsaa games and tivo'ing the Michigan and OSU game.

It might come to a shock to you but RR didn't beat Oklahoma since he was hired by the Wolverines before the bowl game and wasn't allowed to coach in
that game.
Are you trying to tell me that the non BCS bowl games don't count? Tell that to ESPN who does the conference won loss records for all bowl games then. So next time that the Big 10 goes 1 - 7 or something along those lines, I can say that they weren't motivated since most of those teams didn't qualify for a BCS bowl. |

Mr NCAA wrote: Nice try on a redirect but as usual you go off on some tangent that does not make sense and you try to twist what is being said to make it sound absurd but you are smart enough and understand completely. I did not say the other bowl games do not count I was saying (pretty clearly) that Florida was NOT motivated to be in that bowl game while Michigan was very much more motivated because of LLLLLLoyd getting out. Also while RRod was not on the sidelines for that game over Oklahoma that game was called by his O coordinator (Calvin Magee) and his d coordinator (Casteel) and it was the team that RRod had coached all year long (the team he built) so you get the idea. You might want to act like you don't get the idea but you and I both know that you do. |

you cannot deny his teams beating teams like Georgia and Oklahoma in bowl games which is what he will have at U of M as long as he gets the chance. Nice try in saying that RR beat Oklahoma. You are the one that is always twisting words. It seems like teams don't try to win their non BCS bowls games according to you. After all Florida only lost 3 SEC conference games that year so they definitely belonged in the national championship game that year according to your standard. I guess that UM will have to redo their record books for Bill Freider winning the men's basketball championship instead of Steve Fischer based on your standard as well. |

Mr NCAA wrote: What the hell are you talking about???? Did Frieder coach the whole season and then Fisher take the team into the tournament????? Because that is what happened at WVU. All Stewart did was stand on the sideline while the coordinators called the game. As far as Florida and the bowl game against Michigan Florida was NOT motivated to be in that game and it was a let down for them. Play stupid and stubborn all you want to that seems to be your M.O. anymore anyways. It was a let down season for Florida and they were not very motivated to be in that bowl game. If you watched that game at all you would have been able to see that plain as day. Also just ignore the fact that Michigan was actually the more talented team on that field THAT day. Again go ahead and go back and count the NFL draft picks from each team that entered the draft that year. Keep hating on Rrod all you want to, it just exposes that jaded sparty insecure fear. |
