Good question. Maps, Brackets and More:

Why not do a "top Teams of the Decade" and disregard Division? You can still pick some of the lower division teams to discuss or include, but I think
there may be too much jumping around and intermingling amongst divisions when you are talking about an entire decade.
Not the only criteria I'm sure, but state titles this decade: EGR 5 (maybe 6) JLC 4 (maybe5) Mendon 4 TCSF 3 maybe (4) DCC 3 (maybe 4) Rockford 3 Muskegon 3 MCC 3 Lowell 2 (maybe 3) Several others with 2 but no chance at a third

Lumen is D5 team of the decade, hands down. They've made the semifinals 9 of the last 10 years with 4 of those being championships.

Mendon should also be mentioned as a team of the decade having won 4 titles........but, 2 are in Div 7 and 2 are in Div 8. You see my point.

AGF, I was going to mention Montague in D6 as well. But, I did a little research and Nouvel CC has had a little bit more success...
Montague 8 District Titles 5 Regional Titles 1 State Championship (chance for 2 this weekend) 32 playoff games (25-7 record, will be playing in their 33rd playoff game this weekend) Nouvel Catholic Central 9 District Titles 5 Regional Titles 2 State Championships (3 appearances) 35 Playoff games (28-7 record) Both teams have dominated D6 football over the last decade but it looks like NCC has had a little bit more success. If Montague were to win their second state title this weekend it would close the gap a little... |

Can't believe that not one person on here even made an attempt to mention Crystal Falls Forest Park (CFFP). Seems like most folks on here still treat Div.
8 football like a stepchild for some reason. Another fact that the state newspapers have not mentioned about the 2009 team is that CFFP finished 3rd out of 8
teams in the Great Western Conf. Lake Linden-Hubbell won the conference in 2009 and beat CFFP 36-6 in the regular season, only to lose 14-8 in the playoffs as
a result of a blocked punt in the last minute of the game. Hurley (WI) finished 2nd in 2009 and made it to the Semi-finals in Div. 6 of the WIAA playoffs.
Hurley lost to Edgar (WI) 25-0, which was easily the closest game Edgar had in it's 5 playoff games.
CFFP (from 2000-2009) 10 playoff appearances (every year this decade) 8 District Titles 7 Regional Titles (and 1 Regional Final loss) 7 Semi-Final Wins (NO semi-final losses...) 7 State Championship Appearances (6 Consectutive, which ties State Record with Farmington Hills Harrison) 1 State Title (so far). 5 Runners-up finishes 41 playoff games (33-8) so far 7 consectutive seasons of at least 11 wins or more.....

D1
It's down to Rockford and CC ..... and the D1 final this year could decide it. Each have 3 titles, and a trip to Ford Field ... CC with a shot at title #4 D2 We have Muskegon with 3 titles ... and Brother Rice with 2 titles + 2 additional trips to the finals.... D3 Harrison is pretty impressive with 2 titles + 1 final ... until you see EGR going for a potential 6th title. D4 D4 is a tough one D5 JLC D6 Probably Nouvel D7 Quick glance shows TCSF D8 Had Mendon been D8 every year it probably would be Mendon ... but CFFP has a great case. |

Searn wrote:For CC in D1 the 5 year gap between Finals Appearances and lack of making the playoffs a couple times (04, 06) kills it for me. In my opinion, Rockford gets the nod regardless of what happens tomorrow. |

pavlov wrote: You might be right...... but Rockford also went almost the first half of the decade (the first 4 years) without a legit title run ... Their success was in the past 6. I put a lot into the titles ... but Rockford might have a slight edge overall for the decade due to being more consistent ... That being said ... if I'm a fan of any team ... I'd take two non playoff years and a title over 2 decent playoff teams and finals loss every single time. |

Just for the heck of it I counted playoff wins for the decade.
CC - 27 (potentially 28) Rockford - 25 |

So Searn,
Where will you draw the line on your teams of the decade list? Kind of like our ELITE discussion earlier this year. What will be some minimum criteria to make the list? My thoughts: 1. You should have more than two state titles 2. You should have more than four deep playoff runs (Semi's or greater) 3. You should have more than five years in which you were ranked in the top 10 in your division for the majority off the year. 4. You should have an overall winning pct. over 75% for the decade (this eliminates teams that feast or famine). |
