were you wrestling at 9am, eating breakfast at 6am? I would bet not.
I would just simply ask for you to state the last time you rode 500 miles over 2 days (when in high school) and had to play a football gameat 9am body time?
Unless you lived in the U.P., you've never had to do it, so your trying to match it with your personal experiences doesn't wash. As long as you folks say that travel and time zone are no big deal, I take it that you folks won't argue when it is decided to play the Championship game at Houghton, the day after thanksgiving, at 8am in the morning. Let's see how your players react to that.
It doesn't matter that the trip is spread out over 2 days, it is still riding 500 miles, average of 250 miles a day.....and no home cooked meals....most if not all is fast food...not the best to be eating when playing an important game.
Not sure what time schools start in Muskegon, but school in Forest Park does not start until 8:25am,..gets out at 3:20pm...Most kids never get up at 6am for school days...hell, parents are lucky they can get their kids woke up 5 minutes before the busses come to pick them up. The main reason schools starts when it does is because 75% of the school needs to be bussed to school, from like metro cities like Amasa, Alpha, Mansfield Twp. and the like.
Coach Santilli has too much class to officially state that any one reason was reason why his team didn't play well. That's why he is one of, if not THE, most respected coaches in the state.
Unlike the coach from Ravenna.
Depending on the tournament they would start anywhere from 8 am to 10 am and last all day long. How do my personal experiences NOT match up?? I drove longer in a shorter amount of time crossed more time zones and I beat the guys I would have beaten on those saturdays and lost to the guys I would have lost to anyways. I don't care how many different ways you try to sell it I ain't buying it. IF its SUCH a disadvantage how the heck did they win the one that they did?? They lose because they are too slow, and their offense is too predictable. Bottom line.
