There was heavy debate after the 04 season in the west side of the state about who was better Muskegon or Lowell. I still say Muskegon because of TT and they would have had to triple team him just like everybody else would have, which left 2 defenders unblocked to do whatever they wanted to. Funny how a defense can look quick and fly to the ball when that happens. I also think of Muskegon's 3 state title teams of the decade that the 04 team had the best mix of skill speed and power and the best qb of the 3. I know Elan Banks ended up with better passing numbers but Jason Ruud was the better natural passer. Had he been allowed to play out of the "ske gun" formation that muskegon went to in 2008 and Jason could have put up school record numbers. |

haha jason ruud. if i remember, he was the only white person on that team, and he mightve had the best state championship game that year. they kept running
away from chris maclaurin, which was probably a good idea. i remember bein in the lockerroom at halftime of that game, and there was an odd mixture of optimism
and fear. we were up 7-6, but we had fewer than 10 yards on offense. and then the second half came, and we didnt know what hit us. that was a special team. and
i since i wasnt a contributor to that team, i followed muskegon in the papers, and i saw they almost lost to one of the bay city teams. i believe the score was
21-20 or something, and i was a little worried. i knew our team was over-achieving, and i had heard nothing but ridiculous things about that muskegon team. and
they surprised no one with their performance.

There were a few more white kids on the team just not on the field. Not sure what TA was thinking with his game plan in the first half because the formations
and playcalling were kind of all over the place. In the second half he went right back to the flexbone and went right back to the bread and butter stuff. Jason
did most of his damage running midline which run correctly is as close as you get to unstoppable. It also did not hurt that Jason was fast enough to run away
from most people once he got some open space.

Ugh. Muskegon should have never got out of their region in 2004. I'm still pissed about this.

TA teams have a tendency to do that like the 08 team against Davison in the semi's. |
