Congrats to the Cranes and Calvinboy( are they the same?). I posted on the prediction page my thoughts about the poor Trojans. I hope that Clarenceville can
return to the 1/2 of the Shaw-Hudkins era and be respectable again!
Nice job everybody! |

I have to applaud Cranbrook. Their line was getting run over in the first half except for #64 who seemed to be handling himself decently. They seemed to
come back strong in the 2nd half and took it to a better level. Cranbrook's O mixed Clarenceville's defense up with the run and the pass and seemed
like a better team than the Trojans. The Trojans are a bad team with, as others have posted, only Gainer as an offensive weapon. He had a long run only to
cramp and leave his backup to get blitzed on a 3 and out- nice punt though to put Cranbrook inside their own 5. Calvinboy's crystal ball seemed to be
perfect this game and accurate for the week.
Nobody seems ready to beat North. I think the matchup of the season will be a pissed off Clawson against Harper Woods. I'm not convinced that Harper Woods can handle North-it looks like a Mustang title is only a few weeks away. |

Wow. C-ville is 0-3 to start. A 1-8 or 2-7 season. Gainer at QB helps. But coaches still don't see his full capabilities. Mixing the offensive up with some shotgun, play action and the run should provide more than enough points. D-fense is the main problem. Team speed is the second.

Yeah - it always makes sense to change to a whole new offense in the middle of the season!
The Cranbrook game was posted on the internet - and from what i saw the cranes are poor tacklers #2 on C'ville weighs 130 lbs and was diving all over them. And C'ville can't defend the pass for anything thats why this game was so interesting both had glaring weaknesses each tried to take advantage of. Cranbrook just did a better job in the end. Should be a tough game though for the Cranes this week because Northwest likes to pound the ball with its run game and Lutheran North only completed 5 or 6 passes against their defense. I think I saw Northwest give North the ball inside their own 40 about 8 times with blocked punts and turnovers. North's run game looked solid but their passing was suspect at best! Also the Haper Woods game should be interesting with Harper actually playing a solid team - even though C'Ville is O for they still play hard and have a few athletes. Still dont know how they lost to Westland? But Harper should still win this one by a few scores. Westland could win 2 in a row if they can pull it out this week.

No, it doesn't make any sense for the Trojans to change too much of their offense. They threw the ball more week 3 and they moved the ball up and down the
field against Cranbrook.
It just seems like they take the worst penalties at terrible times on offense. And their O-Line doesn't get off the ball, Gainer was running for his life on pass plays and even some run plays it looked like blocks just weren't held long enough. Those guys have lost 3 tough games and their schedule only gets tougher. They have to get rid of the inconsistencies in penalties and O-Line play and they might surprise a team or two the rest of the way. |

ref 70 and Cville trojans, both of you have good points. O-line play and DB coverage are major concerns. Seem to me coaches still haven't figure out there
personal strengths and weaknesses to address those issues. More shotgun formations is were Gainer will shine. He needs more reps to become a poised passer.
Then you will see him throw for over 200 yards and run for a 100 most games.

More reps will help him in the passing game, but I think he is better off under center. If you remember last year he was in the shotgun quite a bit, but he
tends to bounce around and take off running instead of recognizing when to throw the ball. His timing just looks better under center to me, and I don't see
any other advantages of the gun because it probably takes away Cville's base running game where #2 and Gainer have had a lot of success.

Why do we continue to talk about Clarenceville? They haven't won a game. They're done. They need to just wait it out until next year. Let's talk
about if North is going to win the Metro. Will Haper put up a fight? They seem more physical than North with strength and speed. Let's talk about how
Northwest, Cranbrook, and Westland will end up at the end of the season.

It is at least interesting to figure out CVille's problems. People are pretty likely to talk about the things they care about on here.
It is not interesting that of course North is going to win the Metro again. Harper will not give them any trouble, especially in week 8, after Harper has to deal with academic eligibility, their annual loss of focus, and probably some overconfidence too. North will be firing on all cylinders by then, and much more disciplined than Harper. Harper always starts strong, finishes terribly. Cranbrook, then Northwest, and Westland will probably finish in that order unless NW upsets them this week. That's what I think anyway. |

Ok well I agree enough about a 1-8 team!
As for Harper Woods they lost a lot of studs from last year - X. Fowler - That Huge tackle that pulled on the sweeps - and Lavander Lofton- Jackson. And I dont know who from JV's would help them much? - They always have speed and still haven't played anyone significant yet. This week will give us a better look on how they might be. Harper will still make the playoffs with a 6-3 record. I don't know how anyone could pick Cranbrook over Northwest but seeing that score for last week I guess I know why - But if you look on MaxPreps Northwest only gave up 89 yeards passing and 166 rushing yards which isnt bad when you see that they turned the ball over 7 times. Plus North's leading Rusher going into the game (Beebe) had 10 yards on 14 carries. If Northwest ever gets the offense going they could be very good. Cranbrook's tackling was horrible #2 Brooks on C'Ville dove all over them and he weighs 130 lbs. Not taking anything away from him --but come on - a 130 lb dive back. Northwest has a tough schedule after this week with Clawson, Harper Woods, Center Line and the catholic league crossover game that should be R.O. Shrine or A.P. Cabrini who are both 3-0 right now. Westland might win 4 games if they can pull off the victory over Riverview Richard this week and then the Cranbrook game will be an interseting one with them since they both run the same defense now. Then Cranbrook could end up with 3 wins this season if they beat Westland. Lutheran North's defense is pretty solid - I believe they returned 9 or 10 from last year but Richmond is playing well this year so they might end up 7-2 going into the playoffs Clawson could also end up 7-2 but stops at Northwest and Harper could give them trouble but I still think they win one of the 2 and make the playoffs at 6-3. Those are just my perspectives on the season so far...

Well Primetime, we agree on one thing that we should stop talking about C'ville. Other than that I disagree with a lot of what you said. I think Harper
Woods is a lot better than people think. They haven't let an oponent score all year. I know its not much when they played Westland, Detroit Urban, and
Hamtown. But still, it's impressive. I think they will beat Northwest, Cranbrook, Clarenceville, and Conner Creek with ease. That will put them at 7 wins.
The North and Clawson games will be tough, but I even think they can pull one out of those two. I'm not predicting that they will win the Metro Conference,
but I'm not saying that they don't have a chance. As for Northwest, I think they could possibly lose out. Will they, probably not but it wouldn't
surprise me. They have only beat Hamtramck and C'ville so far and only beat Clarenceville by a touchdown. The two worst teams in the Metro. So, to say that
they will win 6 games is quite a statement. I don't think their pass defense is good enough to stop Cranbrook's offense. And I'm pretty sure they
lead the Metro in most turnovers this year. Also, their final game of the year against Westland is always a good one. Best of luck to everyone!

Well the Jury is still out on Harper. We wont really know till they play Northwest. I have to agree with Primetime and that I dont think Cranbrook can handle
Northwest's run game. Northwest looked aweful at North but 7 turnovers would kill any team. They probably do lead the league in turnovers - if they keep
doing that they wont win anyway.
Westland - Northwest was a bore last year. it wasnt a good game Northwest scored quick and went up 2 or 3scores last year by the 3rd quarter. Both Parker (MLB) and Myers (CB) left that game in the 3rd quarter and westland still didnt score. I think the results will be the same this year. I don't see how Westland's 4-3 cover 2 scheme is good against a running team especially with not enough athletes. And if Cranbook pass offense is that good that must mean that Loyola is stacked this year huh? Dont think so they barely beat Mt. Clemens whose only wins the last 2 years is saginaw Buena Vista who is horrible! Hamtramck would beat them. But talk is talk... so I guess we will just have to wait till friday night to see what happens!

One of the reasons that a team could ignore a short little 130 pound diveback is the keying of a scary presence like Gainer. Northwest does not have a talent
like him on their roster. They have a lot of quality athletes but nobody of that level. I think the Cranbrook- Northwest game will be very typical of that
matchup over the recent years since Cranbrook has run the spread. If LNW can slow down the pass it has a chance. In the last couple of years(except last year)
they haven't matched up. I'm not sure that Northwest can come up with enough plays to beat Cranbrook. Against North the yardage numbers were messed up
because North got the ball inside Northwest territory frequently on a blown punt a couple of interceptions and a nice kick return. North put their backups
early enough to make the game seem closer than it was. I do think Harper Woods will help determine the conference champion. They have a solid core of players
that if focused can beat anybody in the league.

Harper Woods is still a very large and quick team. Including their 2 tackles. 1 is 6'7" 310 Sophmore and then a 6'3" 240 Senior. FB is
6'2" 210 from last year. TE is 6'2" 220 and looks to be related to Xavier (Arean Fowler). WR is 6'5" 190 pounds. QB is returning
from last year. Now that is still some size and you always know that they have speed. The question is can they keep it together for 9 games. That is unknown.
If they can, I believe they could be a team to sneak up and win the Metro. Do I think they will, the past has given them a poor track record and I see them
overlooking someone and going down hill from there.
