Questions for those in the know concerning CC football. What can are expectaions be concerning CC football next season. I noticed alot of big junior linemen,
curious as to whether these guys are going to improve and have alot of potential. They won't replace Martin, and Longe, Morasso, Kanaan, were good ones as
well. Another question mark is will the Sophs DAgostino and Erickson be ready to contribute and add additional threats to the emergence of Capatina. Is Landry
the go to guy at QB and what will the learning curve be like with him assuming he is at the helm. Final question, who are the players to look out from on JV? I
saw a young Kinville, on the roster if he is anything like his older borther than he should be an immediate impact player. Personally I thought his brother was
the best LB I have seen play at CC period. I do not know what his combine numbers were but with the right numbers I though he was a legit D1 player especially
at a MAC or maybe even an Indiana or Northwestern. Any feedback would be great.

Kinville is going to play at Indiana State.
The Rocks are going to be a bit on the bubble next year. The current Junior class is a bit undermanned and for the most part will serve as adequate roll players for the much more talented (current) Sophomore and Freshman classes. Depending on growth, 3-4 Freshman could end up on that Varsity Roster and in my opinion, the two that you mentioned (D'Agostino and Erickson), could very well see considerable time, if not be full time starters. They are THAT talented and both combine good feet, more than adequate size (for their age) and toughness. I notice that Erickson is wrestling and that will only help him with respect to football. Another Frosh who could possibly help is Messner. He is already tall enough at appx 6'2, but needs a solid off season in the weight room to add some bulk to that frame. At this point, Landry is the front runner at the QB spot. Now, I mention that CC will be a bubble team. I belive this for a couple of reasons. First, BBR, OLSM and DLS all return very very solid (current) Sophomore and Junior classes and it is those respective Junior classes that give those 3 schools a decided advantage over the Rocks. CC has proven in the past that they can be very successful with team that is primarily dominated by underclassmen, but it usually took them a half season to get their feet underneath them. But, that was done in years when the rest of the league was not as strong as it will be next year. CC's saving grace for a playoff run next year will be the potential re-allignment of the Central and "Double A" divisions (see the link from the Free Press) http://freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080111/SPORTS09/801110390/1057. If this comes to pass, CC (along with the other teams in the potential Central Division) will have a few winnable crossover games that would help them toward 6 wins and a playoff berth. An "underclass" CC team could get their 6 wins, while having a regular season under thier belt, giving those young kids time to mature and make a playoff run. We shall see. Also, I think the potential re-allignment is interesting on 3 fronts. The drop of UD to the AA, the potential addition of Nouvel and the non-addition of Powers. Aside form the drop of UD (it should not be allowed), this would be ste in the right direction for the upper tiers of the Catholic League. |

Thanks Kaycob. On another note what is going on with the catholic league? It seems that the reason Powers is not able to enter is a dispute over whether Powers
will be a league member for all sports or just football. To me thats a no brainer if Powers does not want join to for all sports fine, beggers can't be
choosers. A AA division consiting of DC, ND Prep, Powers, and Nouvell would be ideal. The idea of U of D dropping to form a AA division may benefit the
Shamrocks but I do not think it benefits the overall vitality of the league.
In regards to CC do you see them playing a Tampa 2 style defense? I think the days of the 5-2 are over. Who will the shamrocks be looking too play up front in the Dline? Can we look foward to more inovation on the offensive side of the ball. Personally I liked when Cc linde up in the I with Amble playing FB, giving the shamorkc two quick backs out of the backfield. Would also like to see CC permantly retire the play action pass on 3rd down, replacing it with more passes like quick outs and slants. Again any information
would be great and thanks once again. Oh by the way do you see
Dagositino and Erickson playing offense or defense.

So does the rest of the league when they know it's coming.
Even though they won the game against DLS at Ford Field, but how in the hades does a CC team gain 53 yards TOTAL in a game? Honestly, how is that even possible? |

Boeing, and that is symptomatic of why they didn't play at Ford Field on Thanksgiving weekend. If their offense was just a bit more potent they probably
would have won their 11th ring. But they sure did lend credence to the oft debated (on this forum anyway) credo, that defense wins come playoff time.

Next year will be telling though IMO. Let's see if the 'Rocks can put together back-to-back playoff campaigns. I sure hope so.

D'Agostino | #7 | ||

Good call Kay on Justin D'Agostino. My prediction is that he will be the next superstar at CC. Nice kid too. Capatina is good but I think D'Agostino
has the ability to be a star. I was very impressed with him at the CC-BBR Frosh game this year. He was all over the field on both sides of the ball. It was
one of the best individual efforts I saw last year at any level. He wasn't on the roster (I later heard that he transferred from another school after
school had started, but he never played at the other school--possibly Canton--I'm talking a few days into the school year) so I went up to him after the
game to ask his name and congratulate him on his play. He called my Sir and was very humble. I'll be watching this kid the next three years--and beyond.

D'Agostino was at one of the Livonia schools, I believe Churchill, for a New York minute before went to CC. School hadn't started yet for either
Churchill or CC, so he was able to play after a little delay and the paperwork went through. He had already been accepted at CC, just waited to get there.

You happen to know D'Agostino's first name? (the old man) Or his bride's? There are a fair amount of them (D'Agostino) about, but I happened to
have a about CC with them this summer. I'm betting it was them....

I have never seen D'Agostino play but you guys are getting me excited!
How big is D'A? What type of back is he? Could we see Mach stick with the two smaller back setup that was used much of 2007 with Amble and Capitina, but now with D'A in the Amble role? But with younger Kinville, Palazeti, etc. they will have a lot of options in the backfield. |

Yeah Blue such news has me exited as well. Personally I think having two quick backs in the backfield is a better match than having a "slow" full
back in the backfield. Now if the fullback moves like Milam Brooks, John Kava, or John Sposky (Sr. year that is), than I am for the big fullback. But not the
big slow version. I would also like to know if theri are any big linemen coming up from the JV or Frosh temas any info is much appreciated.

so uhhhh...
if CC is so good now, why don't they have the testicles to play a west michigan team like the other manly catholic league teams? afraid they wont get the 6 wins they need so they dont miss the playoffs for the 3rd time in the past 4 years or however long its been? |

I don't follow. How did you get "if CC is so good now" from this topic. The above posts indicate to me that people believe CC is in for some
rebuilding in 2008.

Dallas,
4/5 CC fans would tell you that they expect a step back in 2008, they will be playing a ton of underclassmen. --- unless the underclassmen are talents like Siller, Allen, Washingon, etc. (which CC does not have) --- - most teams are not going to win in the CHSL with younger/inexperienced players. We CC fans are looking for a learning season season and a team that improves from week to week, hopefully makes the playoffs (then who knows) and is ready to make a real run at the CHSL in 2009. Those CC fans who say otherwise are likely current players and current players parents. Take a look here to see what CC returns http://michiganhsfootball.com/topic/3889 It will be an interesting season. |
