I could hear his intro and the music when I read that MrNCAA. 'Wide World of Sports' is my first memory of sports on TV....and the Globetrotters. |

Did he say the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat in the opener? He was such a class act, and a genius with words. He was truely one of a kind and will

He'll be missed I'm sure.
Hate to say this .. to be completely honest. If last week someone had said to me "Jim McKay" ... I would know he was some sports announcer guy ... but I wouldn't not be able to picture who he was, what sports he did/does, etc.

He is one of the many reasons why I'm in the broadcast journalism business. Always a class act, and was the main reason why sports like horse racing, golf,
tennis and other "odds and ends" sports are now in the forefront. If you ever have a chance to see "Munich", do it. His voice resonates
memories of tragedy and shock, while keeping it serious it nature. He will surely be missed...
Bring back my show, "The Arena", to Battle Creek, please!!! Call my boss! |
