INCLEMENT WEATHER:
These procedures are based upon the following principles:
1. We will make every reasonable effort to play and complete the contest Friday night, (transportation, officials, contest management, contest help, crowd,
facility availability, etc.) but will not sacrifice the safety of the participants to do so.
2. Should inclement weather force the postponement of the game, the game will be resumed @ 7:00 PM Saturday, (unless mutually agreed upon otherwise). Should
the participating schools decide to play at an alternate time, all other division coaches must be notified of the alternate time. In the event inclement
weather, (the presence of thunder or lightening) forces a stoppage in play, we will follow the following operational procedures:
PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING:
"Ladies and Gentlemen: Severe weather is present in the area and at this time the contest has been suspended for at least the next 30 minutes. We ask that
you please leave the stadium and seek shelter immediately. The HS field house is available for your use. Announcements will be made regarding the resumption of
play and all spectators will then be re-admitted free of charge."
** SUGGESTION: UNPLUG YOUR SCOREBOARD, (MAKE NOTE OF TIME, DOWN/DISTANCE, SCORE, ETC. TO PREVENT ELECTRICAL DAMAGE**
• A stoppage in play lasting more than 30 minutes in length will result in a warm-up duration of 20 minutes.
* A stoppage in play lasting more than 30 minutes that occurs prior to halftime will result in halftime being shortened to 10 minutes.
• A stoppage in play will last no longer than 1:30, (which, when coupled with a 20 minute warm-up, will result in a stoppage of play not to exceed 1:50).
Delays on nights not followed by school for all the competing teams may be longer by mutual agreement of participating schools.
• In the event of multiple stoppages in play, the stoppage clock will be cumulative, (ex. 1st stoppage is 30 minutes, 2nd stoppage is 35 minutes, 3rd stoppage
can be no longer than
25 minutes).
In accordance with NFHS rules, films should be confiscated by the home team administration and secured until the contest resumes the following evening. Neither
team shall show video during the suspension.
** Should severe weather force the suspension and ultimately the cancellation of a sub-varsity contest, the contest will not be resumed. However, but mutual
consent of both schools, a scrimmage format without officials may be utilized the following day.
