I thought of this looking at the CC roster. Mach has clearly changed his philosophy in recent years when it comes to having sophomores on the Varsity. It
always used to be that a sophomore had to either be a starter/contributor on Varsity or a key backup in a position of need to even be on the roster -- or else
you played JV. ---- it was big when even 1 or 2 sophomores played Varsity.
The last couple seasons CC has had more than a handful of sophomores on the Varsity roster (5-8) almost on a yearly basis.
What do you think is better for the player?
Playing on the scout team on varsity and not playing in games unless it's a blowout
or
Being one of the top players on JV or Freshmen?
