Not only did the west side go 8-for-8 in the state title games, but the closest game was 12 points. I don't mind the west side winning every title; in
fact, I hope it wakes up some east side administrators. It wasn't very much fun as a fan to watch games that weren't competitive at the end. My
favorite moment was the Ovid-Elsie "Hail Mary" at the end of the first half against Oakridge.

The games may not have been very exciting, but I think there was more talent on the field this year than in any year I can remember. It seemed like every game
had two or three really great players in it.
It's okay when you're respected, but when you're feared, that's when you've got the power.--Frank Lucas

True, but the debate is and has always been east vs west. My wife is from TC and the people in TC think of themselves and westsiders in these debates, but
also, they are northern Michigan. They are on Lake Michigan ... can't get any further west then that. Never the less, no team from the east won a state
football championship this year. who knows, next year it could be the other way around!
Wouldn't it be great to see Musky go play the Ohio or Illinois state champion team next week? That would be interesting... GO EK! |

I love the fact that the West Side has come on so strong in recent seasons ... it only makes MHSAA Football stronger as a whole ...
Unfortunately it has come upon at the same time as some of the east side powers have taken a step back (Harrison, CC, etc.) |
