Will play the final game of the Big Day Prep Showdown @ EMU 8PM. Anyone know what other games are being played August 28th?

I wish it were Brother Rice playing Lake Orion in that game. The Warriors will be playing another power in Week One, UD Jesuit. What happened to
Hudsonville-Lowell. I thought that game was set for Week One.

Good question ... I knew something looked different on Hudsonville's schedule.... Michigan-Football.com now lists the Hudsonville/Lowell game and has
Lowell stuck with the "???????"
It also still has not confirmed the Hudsonville vs. Detroit CC game in week two.

Rice Schedule | #4 | ||
|
I think the scheduling chaos in the CHSL, resulting from the relief given to UDJ and DDC, has adversely affected BBR's schedule. Because of the schedule
relief, Rice went ahead and scheduled a non-conference opponent for Week 8--a time usually reserved for a league game. They were set to play DDC this year,
having played UDJ last year. Given the relief, they were not planning on playing both. I think a game vs Lake Orion at the Big Prep Showdown was in the works
when Vic Michaels came calling with a UDJ opening in Week One. If it were me, I would have declined and proceeded to play Lake Orion. But, being good league
members, Rice scheduled UD--in what I believe could be a non-league game. Not sure of that last point; I've heard it both ways.
As for Week 3, I'm on the fence as far as Highland Park is concerned. They have had some good teams as of late, so it could be a decent game, but I'm worried about the state of the HP program and the scheduling difficulties they appear to be having. If they don't end up with a full schedule, Rice could lose a lot of potential playoff points. Being a new independant, HP might very well end up with a less than full schedule. I would have preferred a Week 3 game vs either Cleveland Glenville, Dublin Coffman or Cincinnati Elder. All had openings. Obviously, a home game vs UDJ will be less costly and more winnable than a game in Ohio against a formidable opponent. I can see Rice's rationale for going with Highland Park. Maybe some regulars on this forum could post the latest on the schedules of CC, OLSM and DLS. It could be a long time before we see anything on the CHSL web site. The only out-of-state trip in 2009 for Rice will be to Toledo to play St. John Jesuit. That should be a decent game. Rice's toughest game in '09 should be Indianapolis Cathedral who travel to Birmingham for a Week 8 game. Rice travels to Indianapolis in 2010 to play Cathedral, again in Week 8. |

That shouldn't even be a game. Hudsonville lost a lot to graduation and the JV, if I remember correctly, was not too good. I didn't watch last
year's D1 championship game, what kind of offense does LO run?

Here's what I've found on www.highschoolsports.net (so far):
Friday: 2:00 PM - Saline vs. Bellville 5:00 PM - Chelsea vs. AA Huron Saturday: 11:00 AM - Monroe vs. Adrian 5:00 PM - Muskegon vs. ML King 8:00 PM - Hudsonville vs. Lake Orion There are still quite a few teams with "no games scheduled yet" on highschoolsports.net. [Edit: Moved Monroe vs. Adrian to Saturday]
