Conceptually, the idea is a good one. The implementation doesn't sound so good. The problem is that the four best teams in the CHSL play in the Prep Bowl on Saturday in Week 9. Thus, you will have UD Jesuit and Divine Child, faux memebers of the Central Div. playing against the Semi-final loser of the PSL. It's no different than we've seen for years. There have always been Week 9 crossovers between the CHSL and PSL among non-Prep Bowl or PSL Finals teams. Not a very good matchup for the CHSL. You'll end up with UDJ playing a Cass Tech or Henry Ford, with DDC playing the other. I doubt that a 5-3 DDC team will want that kind of Week 9 game. The Intersectional teams could send higher ranked (lower division) teams since the semi-final losers do not play on Saturday in the Prep Bowl, but those teams won't match up well with the PSL, except perhaps for Divisions 3 and 4.

I would rather see the Prep Bowl played in Week 8 and the Goodfellows Game plus a bunch of crossovers between the PSL and CHSL played in Week 9. That way, you could have the Prep Bowl winner vs the Div. 1 PSL winner. The Prep Bowl loser vs PSL #1 loser, Prep Bowl Wild Card Winner vs PSL Div. #2 winner. Wildcard loser vs PSL #2 loser. Much better matchups all around. UDJ and DDC could play the Div. 1 and 2 PSL Semi-Final losers.

It would require one less league game, which wouldn't be a problem in the Central Division and would make UDJ and DDC happy.

BTW, in the same column by Mick McCabe he proposes a new coach for UM--Bill Sheridan. Is he out of his mind. RR is there for the long run. The UM progame does not need a high school beat writer proposing his buddy for the coaching job that isn't open. Not a good move MM.
