Three Choices to each answer: Each one compares the team to the one that lined up in 2008.

What is Romeo returning .... I thought they had a very good team in 2008 ...
Do you think they can stay at that level for a 2nd season in the RED? |

Ben Brown will make the offensive transition much easier for Romeo, he's a legit preseason candidate for Macomb County player of the year IMO. BB along with Mershman (SHS) were the two best JR offensive players I saw last year. Honestly Searn I thought the same thing going into last year that Romeo would be down after what they lost in 07 and I was wrong. They have been very strong at the lower levels the last few years and Romeo also has a favorable early schedule with 3 of the first 4 being very winnable games. I could see CV being a + team and Romeo taking a step back and finishing 4th depending on who wins the week 5 matchup between those 2 teams. Merchant being thrown into the mix makes CV more of ?/wildcard team this year depending on how smooth that transition goes. |

It's really tough for one division to support more than 3 or 4 power programs ... because at some point someone has to be a loser and potentially miss the
playoffs from time to time. .... then again the MAC Red has it set up for them with weak MAC crossovers to pad their record so I suppose it can happen in the
MAC Red easier than most leagues in the state.
I'll be very interested to see if Romeo can maintain and where Chippewa Valley goes under Merchant. I'm not certain how the MAC handles their realignment between the Red, White, etc. If Romeo is able to keep winning at a high level is it possible we could see one of the "Big Boys" such as Chippewa Valley or Ike drop down to the White in the next cycle? |

The MAC realigns every two years. 2010 will be a realigmnment year. It would be possible for any Red team to drop down but a team like Ike with their huge
enrollment probably would never go down a division, CV maybe if they were not competitive. I think the only change in 10 would be Ford going down to the White
and Cousino moving up depending how their 09 season goes.

You are probably right ...
I had it in my head that it was "two up, two down" during each cycle ... but looking at some past alignments it's only been one team that moved ... Who do you think would be the next team up? Does enrollment factor or simply results? |

Both factor in, Cousino other than last year was right on par with Romeo in the White and they are pretty close in enrollment. Cousino because of being down
last year would need a big year in 09 combined with Ford struggling again if the move is going to happen. My guess is it won't The other 5 will stay put as
Romeo should be competitive again. What I would really like to see for 10 is for the AD's to come to their collective senses and allow the Red teams to
schedule out of conference crossovers.

Warren Mott is similar in size to Romeo and Cousino .... and ran the table in the MAC White in 2008. ... .
With a strong 2009, I would have to think they would be the #1 candidate for the Red. |

Mott would be interesting as I don't believe they have ever been a Red team. They should have another strong year and they have one of the states best prospects for 2010 in DE/TE CJ Olinyian and return All Macomb County QB Ben Filimon.
