Everyone has their own criteria. Some may enjoy watching the best teams go at it, some may be drawn into the student sections, the community support, etc. What is the best or your favorite area in metro Detroit to watch and follow high school football? ----- and why? I am going to do my best to include different regions and list a couple of known teams. Northern Oakland County Lake Orion Clarkston Rochester Adams etc. Commerce Area Walled Lake Western Walled Lake Central Milford Lakeland etc. Old KVC/SW Oakland/Livingston Brighton South Lyon Howell Novi etc. Other SW Oakland Farmington Hills Harrison West Bloomfield Southfield etc. SE Oakland Oak Park Royal Oak Berkley Ferndale Birmingham Schools etc. NW Wayne Canton Plymouth Livonia Schools etc. Metro Private Schools Brother Rice CC St. Marys Country Day Delasalle etc. Detroit Public Schools Cass Tech King Renaissance Crockett etc. South Macomb Sterling Hts Schools Warren Schools Fraser Roseville etc. North Macomb Chippewa Valley Macomb Dakota Utica Schools Romeo etc. Downriver Fordson Dearborn Allen Park Southgate etc. Other S Wayne Garden City Romulus Westland/Wayne etc. Not limited to these schools, use your best area knowledge to put any other school where they belong with your vote ---- if you believe I have a school in the wrong spot let me know as well. All-Searn Hall of Fame Posts: 6860 03/02/09 4:35 PM Board Owner http://michiganhsfootball.com http://ndfanzone.com	Personally I look at the quality of teams as the main factor in determining what teams I like to watch ... the community, fan support and other outside factors comes into play a little bit, but it no where near a deciding factor. It's a lot of fun when huge crowds get into the mix, and the fans are loud and into the game ..... as long as it's a good game between quality teams. On the other hand I love a good game between quality teams every time ... even if there's only 500 in attendance. For that reason in the metro area I probably enjoy watching the "Metro Private" and "North Macomb" the best ... with "North Oakland" and possibly the "Downriver" usually in the next spots depending on the year. Really there's a lot to like from every area mentioned whether it be atmosphere or play on the field .... but the ones I mentioned would probably top my list.

All-Searn 1st Team Posts: 2323 03/03/09 8:05 AM Forum Donor	For me its really hard to judge..I have been staying closer to home, so that is a factor for me..Also, I love a good crowd and watching fabulous football...Here are the area's (teams) I like to watch.. Dearborn: Both Dearborn and Fordson are fun to watch...The atmosphere at both places is fantastic. The fans are great..I just wish the consession stands were good..That is one thing that is pathetic..You usually get good football games when either team is involved..Good coaching, and friendly people.. Sorry to the Edsel Ford people..There is just nothing there right now Livonia: I have a great time when I watch either Franklin or Stevenson..They both have been pretty good lately and have had some fantastic games...Decent atmosphere, very good consessions and once again, fantastic coaching...Another Sorry to Churchill..Same as Edsel Ford above Garden City: Yes, I get to atleast one game a year..They are my alma, so I have to go regardless...I love the Blue and Orange...I just hope and pray that one day they turn it around there...Good Luck to coach Salter... Inkster: I gotta say this..I never went to an Inkster game until coach Carter took over the program..He is a good and honest person, regardless what anyone tries to make up..I have had discussions with this man and he is a fantastic human being and a great coach..What this man has done for the whole high school, not just football, is remarkable.. The best thing about this man that nobody talks about, in football, is that kids who are growing up in Inkster want to stay in Inkster and play for this man..Year upon year, Inkster kids would go to Glenn,Wayne,Robishaud, or Romulus to go to high school..Now they stay home... On the football side, its fun to watch..Great offense and defense..The downfall is a big one..Horrid seating,parking, and consessions...Honestly one of the worst I have been to..Hopefully one day, they can get a new stadium and some turf.. Canton: This is just a different brand of football here..A linemans dream to watch..Its just a thing of beauty to watch this team just physically wear down opponents with your typical 12 play 9 min drive...I realize some hate this type of football because its boring..I understand that, but to me watching this one or two times a year is great... On the fan side of things, its really not a great atmosphere..I believe it has to do more with how huge the stands are..they are massive and one of the bigger ones in the metro detroit area..You do get a great seat though, lol

You are not a Canton fan or 2. You are a Canton fan, but Canton is not winning.

I'm going to really try to see an Inkster game before the playoffs in 2009. Their regular season schedule simply has not had many games that I would have made an effort to see the past few years ... hopefully that changes for 09. I would have to imagine that the games with Pioneer and East Kentwood are road games .... as I can't see the fan bases of those two giant schools attempting to watch a game at Inkster.. but you never know.... I'm sure Inkster needs the game more than EK or Pioneer so they likely didn't have a lot of power to negotiate. For Lumen Christi .. does anyone (TNT) know if their early season games are SW-Mich Conf. crossovers or simply scheduled games? It seems like DePorres (and Coach Carter) had a good relationship with Lumen Christi .... I think that would be a game to look foreword to in coming years... just a thought ...

Three games (2007 SHS v. CHS, 2007 FHS v. SHS playoff, and 2008 FHS v. SHS) were just amazing. However if you didn't go to the 2007 SHS v. CHS game, the stands were packed probably two hours before game time, and there ended up being about six or six and a half thousand in attendace according to the police. (Just a fyi, the 2008 FHS v. SHS game had about four thousand.)

Unfortunately I believed they hype and showed up early as to not have to stand around the fence ... turned out I could have showed up at any time and still could get a seat. But like I said ... I'll take a great game between quality teams (which was what I got) every time over a packed house and a poorly played game.

Sophomore Posts: 24 03/09/09 10:13 PM	The old days of Glenn vs. Stevenson used to produce some rather large numbers as I recall. I also always liked a good Walled Lake Western vs. Central game..............as long as both teams are in a good year
