Sophomore Posts: 33 09/03/09 9:44 PM	Tags : None I'm not sure which team starting off 0-2 is more surprising to me. I'd probably say Livonia Stevenson because from what I've heard they were supposed to be real good with AW and what not. I thought last week was just a fluke and that they would bounce back this week but i guess Howell was better than i thought. As for Novi, they lost a tough game in the rain last week but i had a feeling Milford (2-0) was better so i also expected them to improve this week against WLC but they played worse...3 turnover on downs, 1 INT in WLC territory. QB Diamond of WLC ran all over the D and had a solid passing game that Novi couldn't stop and Novi took a tough 20-6 loss. So, what do you guys have to say about these 2 teams? Are they just struggling or are they just not that great? Which team will do better overall? Which one is the new favorite in the match-up and who do you think will win the KLAA Central now? Predictions?

Sophomore Posts: 29 09/03/09 11:57 PM	considering that Novi's qb is probably out for the season, and i wasnt really impressed with his backup i would have to say stevenson. also their defense rotates to much so the players really never get a good feeling for what is going on.

Sophomore Posts: 27 09/04/09 8:04 AM	I'm frankly shocked that Steveson's 0-2. Both Franklin and Howell are good programs, but Stevenson was ranked as one of the top programs in the state before the season started. When you take into consideration the nice run they had in last year's playoffs and the return of White and they certainly looked like they'd be poised to go farther this year. I still think either Stevenson or Novi will rally to win the Central, but this certainly makes things more interesting. Seems to me that Stevenson didn't really "gell" until later in the season and hit their stride right below the playoffs last year. Starting out 0-2 starts making every game a must-win game from this point on out.

Sophomore Posts: 57 09/04/09 10:09 AM	I hate to say this, but Rydzewski's injury is a blessing in disguise for Novi. You never want to see a kid get hurt, especially a great kid like him, but after watching Tim Hartland fling the ball around last night it's apparent he's the best QB on this team. I hope Rydzewski makes a quick recovery and returns to the DEFENSIVE side of the ball, where he is a helluva player. And Novi needs Jimmy Pitcher at RB. There's nothing going in the running game and Novi needs a spark from it's best players. Throw Pitcher, or heck Mims at RB and see what happens.

Sophomore Posts: 6 09/04/09 1:26 PM	I agree that Novi should put their best athletes out on the field on offense and defense as much as possible. They are going to have to start taking chances, take on more risk in their play calling as well. Last night, WLC big offensive and defensive lines took a toll on Novi that was very evident in the 4th quarter. I don't know all the names of Novi, but #21 was their best passer last night.

Junior Posts: 229 09/04/09 2:40 PM	This is only the sixth time in school history that Stevenson has started out 0-2. (2009, 1992, 1981, 1977, 1971, 1970) As well this is the first time under Coach G. that they've started this bad. In '92 they finished 3-6, in '81 6-3, in '77 6-3, in '71 1-7, and in '70 they finished 2-5-1. Historically for Stevenson when starting 0-2 they had 2 winning seasons however did not make the playoffs. I will say this that after watching them for 2 games, i no longer consider them a major factor in D1. When you look down the road and see the matchups, i'm starting to think that this team might not even make the playoffs. Of course this is still early in the season but from what i saw, it's not mental errors that are costing them, its being physically outmatched in the trenches. The past two years with one of the best O-lines in the KLAA, they were one of the best teams. White looks lost out there at times, and highschool football is won and lost in the trenches, and without a good o-line, White wont be spectacular.

Sophomore Posts: 31 09/04/09 4:18 PM	northville only kept it close because GB's qb threw so many interceptions and they turned the ball over a ton. northville barely beat a pickney squad that would have trouble fielding a competitive 8 man team.

Junior Posts: 6 09/04/09 7:27 PM	You have no idea what happened last night. There is a reason they turned it over, because they were challenged. Northville will not rollover. That is the scary thing. GB quarterback had 1 int. You have no idea what your talking about. GB is a great team! On paper this game should have never been close, but you have to play the game and that is what surprised GB.

Junior Posts: 8 09/04/09 7:53 PM	I hope your not a coach. Don't consider yourself a good team until you blowout a team like Northville, back at you! By the way the Pickney game was a pig slop of a game (grass field). Frankly, I consider GB a great team and it may turn out that the Northville game will be their toughest regular season game. If you feel Northville was not a surprise to GB last night and the team feels the same way, you will lose. From what I saw last night GB needed an attention getter to get them back to the great team they can be. Linebackers are arrogant and were not good last night, but they can be. Lots of individual behavior going on. By the way, I am in my 40s and know more than you can imagine about football. If you are a coach take this and read it to your team, it will only help. I truly believe if GB had the heart and courage of Northville to go along with the talent you can go a long way. Good luck!

Novi and Livonia Stevenson both 0-2 to start the season?
