Both teams come into this matchup undefeated. Both teams won their first two games in impressive fashion.

I believe the forum pollsters have responded with a resounding thud on RHS's chances.

Yeah I know. I can't remember when a team did not get a single vote in a poll. Very surprising. I guess kidrocks22 does not frequent this site? |

Re: the Dak game, I think you guys will win by 10. I know CVs D was not as good as years past but the dak line was best I've seen. Saw some of the dak kids play at Seneca. Cornellison sp,Hamdon, Campbell, Watts were there. I will say that is is a good thing that Seneca is now what it always was, with a few exceptions regarding FB, a DHS MS. Now the kids know where they line up as to their allegiances. 75% of the old Seneca went to Dakota. It always seemed that the "Stipeks" went to dak. I went to a split JH when young and it was the opposite for us. Most of our JH kids went to WLC. I will say that most of the FB talent also went to WLC. However, the straight up dimes (good looking girls for those born prev to '80) went to WLW. Did you sign up for that site where you can view all games for about $50? I think the Troy Athens coach started it. I want to go to both of these games (CV and Dak games). I figure I will see the CV game and watch the Dak game on Ch 15 (WOW Community Cable) or maybe sign up for that site if it isn't too costly. I look for an extreme improvement on CV D and O as the season goes on. Merchant does not yet have his imprint on this team. These kids are gonna have to lower their pad level, no doubt. Here's to a scrappy comeback! As for this site, I am not near as into HS FB as you all, I will try to sound intelligent. The "other" site is not as "classy" shall we say and if I flew off the handle, it fit. I will say that EVERY NOW AND THEN, I made a pretty good point. Expect me to post here, EVERY NOW AND THEN. Rip it's great to see you over here. I don't think Searn's is anywhere near as pretentious as you seem to think. Your input is welcomed. We need
some CV insight.
Your right about Seneca. I always thought that it was weird that kids who went to MS right next to CV ended up at Dakota. Remember though CV got some very good Seneca kids as well (Deliz's). I know the Dakota/Romeo game will be on CVC-TV this week. I agree that CV is not as bad as they looked against Dakota. I still think they are a playoff team. Dakota's line is very physical and would be a matchup problem for quite a few teams. |

from here on in it will be extremely limited unless you want info on the girls volleyball team, assuming my daughter is still interested in 2011 and not going
to Luth. North. I am all for the Big Reds, but just like when my kids were not involved with the teams, I will probably go to where the action is. I will hit
the games that will provide the most entertainment. That may mean CHSL, KLAA (WLC v WLW), and Some OAA. Will I become a clone of Drew47? Highly doubtful.
Is he married? Just kidding Drew!!!

Lutheran North? I thought you were a Catholic Rip?
Any reports on the MAC games you attend would be much appreciated. I'm sure the guys on the other conference boards would like to hear your thoughts on the KLAA,CHSL etc. |

If Austin Catholic Academy is ready I will give them a look too. Luth No. gets the nod right now over Regina, big time. I am Catholic but have
many friends getting great results with the Luth No. program. I will report on non-CV and CV games that I attend. I think that Regina's academics are
lacking in the staff and textbooks being utilized. I did some research.

Dakota's defense is dominant Cougars return two picks for scores in win over Romeo By Chuck Pleiness Macomb Daily Sports Writer Romeo's offense took Dakota by surprise early in Friday night's Macomb Area Conference Red Division football game between the two undefeated teams. By the Bulldogs' third offensive series, the Cougars had Romeo all figured out. After falling behind 10-0 early in the first quarter, Dakota's defense pitched a shutout the rest of the way and helped matters with two interception returns for scores as the Cougars avenged a loss last season to the Bulldogs, 33-17. "Our kids adjusted very well," said Cougars defensive coordinator Greg Bauer, whose unit held Romeo running back Ben Brown to 88 yards on 15 carries. "A lot of teams may have folded after that, thinking here we go again. But we fought back.
"We made a couple of adjustments that helped," Bauer added. "And then the kids just played hard. Romeo is a heck of a team. They have the best running back in this area by far." Romeo snapped Dakota's 24- game winning streak last season in Week 3. The Cougars had won back-to-back Division 1 state titles and last lost on Sept. 29, 2006, to Ford. "In the second half we pitched a shutout and that's what our goal was," said Bauer, whose defense finished with four interceptions. "I'm very proud of them." Brown capped a five-play drive with a nine-yard TD run to open the scoring for the Bulldogs. Brown started the series by hitting Joe Bacci with a quick pass for a 46-yard gain. On Romeo's next series, Robert Flinn nailed a 48-yard field goal with 5:17 left in the first quarter. "I'm pleased with how we started, but it's hard to play at that level, with that kind of intensity for all 48 minutes," said Romeo co-coach Jason Couch, whose team falls to 1-1 in the MAC Red and 2-1 overall. The 10-point deficit seemed to DAKOTA: Cougars' win powered by defense Continued from Page 1C wake up the Cougars' offense, which netted a minus-seven yards on their opening drive of the game. Dakota began to pound the football. Brandon Hughes got the call eight times in the series before quarterback Mark Morris went in over the right side of the line for a 14-yard score. The Cougars' extra-point attempt hit the upright. Dakota capitalized on its next offensive series. Unable to pick up a first down on its first three plays, Morris ran a fake punt for a 16-yard gain to the Bulldogs' 37. One play later, Hughes busted through a huge hole and broke to his left for the 37-yard score. Again though, Dakota's point after kick failed. Deandre Smith stepped in front of a short toss by Jacob Alcini and raced 53 yards to give the Cougars a nine-point lead after Kris Selita hit the extra point with 6:38 left before halftime. "I don't mind kids trying to make plays," Couch said. "I can't fault a kid for trying." Christian Pletta got the score right back for the Bulldogs (1-1, 2- 1) returning the ensuing kickoff 90 yards to paydirt. "Our special teams, my gosh," said Dakota coach Mike Gian- none, whose team plays at Port Huron next Friday. "You have to tackle when you play this team. They're a good football team." Dakota's offense continued pouring it on to begin the second half. Hughes (21 carries, 147 yards) scored his second TD of the game, plunging in from three yards out to cap a seven-play drive. Then, Deontae Rex sealed the deal, stepping in front of a pass at the Cougars' four-yard line and racing 96 yards to put Dakota ahead 33-17 after the extra point with just over three minutes left in the fourth quarter. "I've never seen him run that fast," Bauer said. "It was a great play by him." Gerald Jackson also picked off a pass for Dakota, which limited Romeo's offense to just 67 yards in the second and third quarters combined after allowing 97 in the opening quarter. Morris was 10-of-11 passing for 106 yards. He also rushed for 54 yards on eight carries. --Send comments to chuck. |

http://www.freep.com/article/20090912/HSS/90912004/1238/Macomb-Dakota-gets-sweet-revenge
Macomb Dakota wanted revenge for last year's 35-7 loss at Romeo. They got it Friday night with two interceptions returned for touchdowns and a big rushing night from Brandon Hughes in a 33-17 victory.
Dakota improved to 3-0 in the MAC Red while Romeo, another power in the Red Division, fell to 2-1.
Deandre Smith (55 yards) and Deonte Rex (97) both had interception returns for TDs while Hughes, who had 157 yards rushing, had touchdown runs of 37 and three yards. "Even when we got down 10-0 we remembered what they did to us last year,'' said Hughes. "Getting down 10-0 didn't really bother us.'' Junior quarterback Mark Morris was brilliant for the winners, completing 10-of-11 passes for 133 yards and rushing 10 times for 64 yards. Ahead by two at halftime, the Cougars used a 42-yard pass from Morris to Ryan Spicuzzi to set up a three-yard score by Hughes to make it 26-17. Early in the game, Romeo stunned the Cougars with Ben Brown at quarterback. The All-State running back completed a 46-yard pass to Joe Bacci who was wide open in the Dakota secondary. The play led to a nine-yard TD run by Brown. "I would have like to have carried the ball more, but we have to get everyone involved,'' said Brown, who carried just 12 times for 85 yards. Romeo struck again with Robert Flinn making a 48-yard field goal in Romeo's second possession with 5:17 left in the first quarter to give the Bulldogs a 10-0 lead. Dakota answered by running the ball down the Bulldogs' throats behind a mammoth offensive line. Hughes carried the ball eight times in the drive and Morris finished the march with a 14-yard TD run with 14.7 seconds left in the first quarter. Kris Selita's missed extra point made it 10-6. After Morris, who saw an opening, scampered 16-yards out of punt formation, Hughes scored on the next play, blasting through for 37 yards with 8:56 left in the half. Selita missed again as Dakota led 12-10. Jacob Alcini was intercepted on Romeo's next possession and Smith raced untouched 55 yards for another Dakota score as the home team opened up a 19-10
lead with 6:38 left in the half.

For seven minutes last Friday night, Romeo pretty much did what it wanted to against host Dakota in the teams' MAC Red Division clash.

You've got it all wrong, 67. I just read accounts of the game from the MLive Romeo experts who say that Dakota's defense isn't any good. Romeo just
didn't want to play on O, and handed them the game. No indication of who was the better team, don't you know?

Yeah, I almost spit my gatorade all over the computer after reading that gem, hilarious. kidrocks22 is a laugh a minute.
"Dakota's d had nothing to do with how poorly our offense played. " I'm glad he cleared that up. Come to think of it, did Dakota's D have anything to do with the 2 Int returns for TDs? |
