hmmm......pretty good. might have dropped BR below macomb dakota or even a notch lower given how they were pretty dominated statistically. I guess they did
win. Not yet a Clarkston believer either but overall.......rock solid.

I also considered dropping Rice below Dakota, but I decided that they shouldn't be penalized for a win against a very good team, even though they were
dominated statistically. Another game like that and they probably do drop. But, they get the benefit of the doubt and Highland Park proves that they are an
elite team. Does Markowski include HP in his Detroit ratings. I think so. They should be number one in Detroit in my opinion. Next week will say a lot
about Rice (vs. CC) and a lot about HP (vs. Country Day). There will be movement in my Top 5 the next two weeks with 2 playing 3 this week and 1 playing 4
next week.

I've never noticed HP in the New's Detroit rankings ... but I could be wrong.

Tom must have decided to post his top 25 teams after the other ratings last week as it is on the rating link now:
http://www.detnews.com/article/20090907/SPORTS05/909070344/1049/sports05/Tom-Markowski-s-high-school-football-rankings Highland Park is listed at #3 in the Detroit ratings. They were my #1 team in Detroit after week 1 though based on the Lansing Everett win. |

Interesting ... I guess I never noticed since I don't look very closely at those .... I basically check the Super 10 and/or division/class ratings and move
on to the next site.

Hey searn my friend i think your missing the boat on melvindale this year, well i dont agree with you sometimes but i do respect your knowledge on high school
football.Melvindale is a B school playing in class A league and their first 3 games were against southgate league favorite woodhaven and aaron bailey shut him
down and carlson and they won all 3 game eaisly.Wyandotte and Ap have played a very soft schedule so far so keep that in mind.We are currently ranked 4th in
division 4 so with that said some of those teams ranked above us that are class A teams division 1,2,3 we could beat believe me.

I love it. You have the guts to complain about Searn's ratings about your own team when the 3 teams rated above yours in your own division isn't even
ranked by Searn. So where's the logic in not saying those 3 teams ranked above Melvindale doesn't belong even higher in his ratings?

I should have added earlier that Melvindale could very well end up in D3 seeing how they are the #2 team in my D4 SEN wise. So your wish might happen come
playoff time.

Melvindale appears to be a very good team this year but I'll be honest it's going to be tough to move above some teams above them based on playing in
the Downriver League without and tough non-conference games.(or I might as well say lack of non-conf games period)
It's not a bad league ... you just are not going to have any signature wins until the playoffs this year even if you finish 9-0. |

Muskegon Heights does not belong. Overhyped and overrated. West Catholic is the real deal ... they deserve the recognition.

Good to talk high school football again. Looking forward to the 2nd annual March Madness style tourney once the playoffs are over.
It's early, so the various lists aren't going to be as close...but here are my biggest disagreements: I don't see why Troy doesn't make the list, only lost to a very good Clarkston.
I think Dearborn Heights Annapolis has done enough to make the list.
Dearborn Devine Child may be smaller, but they've looked good enough to make it.
Detroit MLK has only lost to Muskegon and I think they could join Southeastern and represent Detroit well this year.
And I had Dearborn Heights Crestwood too...but that must have bee a typo!!
As to the one's I think you are over-rating; I can see Rockford as a top 32, but I don't think they'll be the same Rockford this year.
I don't like Grand Blanc. They barely beat Northville and Northville isn't anything special.
I gotta say Howell is over-rated...all they've done is barely beat bad teams.
I'll give ya Rochester Adams, but I'm not as high on them as I was last year.
And Chelsea has looked strong, but against bad teams. Annapolis has done the same thing and they didn't make the list.
My Top 3 would be: 1) Canton 2) Warren DeLaSalle 3) Detroit Catholic Central 4) Troy 5) Lowell Looking forward to next week's!! And Clintondale loses to St. Clair?! What the $%l) is going on here!! Oh...maybe it rained...the Dragons can't play in the rain (i.e. Cros-Lex in the playoffs last year).
