Nice job Searn.......
I look forward to your weekly rankings. Alot of football left to play and alot of big games remaining to be played. It will be very interesting to watch your rankings thru out this season.

Ya know, this is where rankings get weird. One would typically assume that, say, a #12 team would more often than not, beat a #32 team. Yet not only did that
not happen, from prepseers write-up, it sounds as if the #32 team was truly the better team (i.e. no fluke win) - and prepseer is not known to cut OLSM much
slack. On the other hand, how can you rank a 1-2 team ahead of a 3-1 team. On the third hand, how can you rank them below (far below) the team they just
beat......fairly soundly. I'm thinking we should have a new template. Something like a "Ranking Circle" or maybe a branching "Ranking
Tree". Ah hell, I'm starting to sound like youth soccer. It's a conundrum, inside a riddle, wrapped around an enigma. Waddayagonnado.

Getting Closer | #3 | ||

I enjoy seeing your list each week to see how I compare to the expert...
Here's my top 10 (previous week's rankings in parenthesis): 1) Canton (1) 2) Detroit Catholic Central (3) 3) Macomb Dakota (6) 4) Lowell (5) 5) Warren DeLaSalle (2) 6) Clarkston (8) 7) Lake Orion (7) 8) Romeo (11) 9) Dearborn Fordson (10) 10) Troy (4) Okay, Troy is my mulligan. Honorable Mentions: Ann Arbor Pioneer, Detroit Martin Luther King, Dearborn Devine Child, East Grand Rapids, and Farmington Hills Harrison. Obvious teams that are "missing" from my list include Sterling Heights Stevenson, Rockford, and Rochester Adams. I'm probably wrong about Rockford. I'm unsure about Stevenson. And I'm just not impressed with Rochester Adams.

Interesting that D1 has 8 out of the top 10 and 9 out of the top 11 teams. Naturally I disagree on the order, but this will play itself out in the playoffs.
Personally I would have Highland Park over Detroit Southeastern due to SOS.

Games between league teams often have one ranking in circles ...... With a tough SOS .... OLSM should rise quickly if they show the win over DLS wasn't a
fluke.

Interesting as always 'prime ....
I'm sure you'll be happy to know I'm liking Montague even better than I did in 08. (so far) |

Searn, before the season started I thought that Montague had a chance to be better than they were in 08 and so far they are living up to my expectations.
Kater is bigger and faster than last year and his accuracy has improved as well. They have a ton of depth and the overall team speed has improved from last
year and that team wasn't slow by any means. If someone is going to beat the Cats this year they will have to out score them because Montague's
offense seems to be unstoppable this year. The only problem with a team outscoring them is that the Montague defense is pretty darn good. They have a big,
physical defensive line and their linebackers can really run. This is one of the best teams I've seen from any of the lower divisions. All of this can
change with a loss so we will have to wait and see how they play in the following weeks...

I'll keep posting this every week. Muskegon Heights is overrated; they don't belong in the top 32. The only decent team they've played (Oakridge)
was completely exposed by Montague this week.
West Catholic is far more deserving to be in your rankings ... I hope they go D5, because they would handle MH without too much of a problem.
