So I'm Watching ESPNU |
Lead | ||

Its Sheldon OR vs. Southridge OR. I don't know about any of you guys, but whenever I'm watching these games, I can't help but wonder why the MHSAA
doesn't allow high school football to be broadcasted nationally on ESPN or even live on a local network for that matter (except for state championship
games of course). I've never understood it. I know its probably been a topic on here, but I'm curious on why the MHSAA doesn't allow it. I would
love to see BBR vs DCC, or EGR vs. Lowell, or something. ANYTHING. I'm interested on your guy's thoughts about this........

I will be tivoing the replay since I have 15 high school football games on DirecTV on this week. I've completed 3 so far. I will be watching one of my 3
games from this year that I haven't watched yet while the tivo is recording another game. I just finished up the Pittsburgh CC vs. Upper St. Clair game.
I decided to take a small break to see what's up on here.
The MSHAA allows the live airing of the high school football games. The MHSAA wants the station to pay a fee to do it though, which I think is a reasonable requirement. |

See page 17 on this link. Live broadcast fee of $1,000 plus rules and regulations are included thoughout the link. For ESPN it would probably be the $2K
figure since it would be on cable systems.

Actually Mr. NCAA,
You need to go to the bottom of page 10 under "Video Specific Policies" and then on page 11 with the stipulations for waiving this rule. Basically, no live broadcast unless MHSAA changes their rules, for regular season games. Am I reading this right? Mehairbowl01 - Go Big Reds! Be Fine in 09! Time to Break Da Curse |

Basically those two sections don't make sense to me. How can the MHSAA produce a "live" broadcast fee schedule depending on how you want to
broadcast the game plus how big the market will be and then they come up with your page 11? My page 17 has been there a while since this was on the old
version of the MHSAA website as well.

I agree - That is what made me take a second look and wonder what the deal was. Alot of "legalesse" is inserted in league and associations by-laws.
I found this out when I became a board member of a couple of youth sports leagues. No wonder no one can figure out what is going on!
