I know it varies based on who gets in but can anyone tell me the approximate enrollment number where the divisions broke at the last few years?

It looks like Melvindale is firmly on the bubble. (Is that an oxymoron?) If I'm reading the chart correctly, it looks like the average cutoff would be anywhere from Wyoming Rogers (221) to Hamtramck (239). EDIT: Since your question was actually in terms of enrollment numbers... The cutoff between D3 and D4 averages from 826 to 904. Maps, Brackets and More:
