Senior Posts: 368 10/25/09 11:19 AM	Tags : None I mentioned it sometime earlier in the season, but I am still always surprised by this. After scanning Snoozes Maps, there are NO Kalamazoo Schools in the playoffs in ANY Division. For the size of this city, that is really unbelievable. Some of the surrounding communities continue to put out quality football: Mendon, Three Rivers, Schoolcraft, and at least this year, the Portage schools. But, within Kalamazoo proper, not one school! What a shame.

I can think of 4 only off the top of my head right away: Kalamazoo Central, Kalamazoo Loy Norrix, Kalamazoo Christian, and Kalamazoo Hacket. The family drove past KC on the WMU visit 8 days ago.

I didn't forget about them - darn good program. But they are about as much a part of the city of Kalamazoo as Lowell is of Grand Rapids. I suppose if you want to draw a 20 mile radius from downtown you could say yes, but I was really talking about the "city" of Kalamazoo. Maybe I'm being a bit harsh here. It's not as if Kzoo has NEVER had good teams. And, maybe the folks from Portage really consider themselves Kalamazoo (maybe not). Maybe the Climax folks too for all I know. I don't want to come off as bashing the good people of Kazoo, I just don't understand why their High Schools are not heard from more in football.

Senior Posts: 279 10/26/09 6:45 AM	There are more in the county...Parchment, Schoolcraft, both Portage schools, Comstock. So there are 4 teams from the county in the tournament. But from the city itself 0.

All-Area Posts: 539 11/03/09 5:33 PM South-Central Mich.	Only two teams made it from five teams from Kalamazoo County - Portage Northern, Portage Central, Gull Lake, Climax-Scotts and Schoolcraft. St. Joseph County had six - White Pigeon, Bronson, Three Rivers, Colon, Constantine and Mendon... Bring back my show, "The Arena", to Battle Creek, please!!! Call my boss!
